I’m so excited to add Permanent Jewelry…

Permanent Jewelry is high quality precious metal chain that we custom fit and micro weld closed on your wrist, ankle or neck. The jewelry is clasp free creating a seamless permanent bracelet, anklet or necklace!

The process is painless, easy and fun! Great for friendship bracelets, mother daughter bonding, bachelorette parties, or simply to treat yourself to the easiest accessory you will ever own.

A sampling of three permanent jewelry bracelets.

To be honest, it has been a while since I have added a new technique to my jewelry design skills. My encouragement came from a few special ladies in my life… my daughter and my sister.

My daughter Kya, who is a beautiful bride to be this year has really been encouraging me to design bridal jewelry and was the first to suggest permanent jewelry. ❤️

My sister Karlene has been a lifelong supporter. She has encouraged me, helped me find my first big event years ago that led to my career in art licensing, always thinks of me with inspiration and was pivotal in helping me get started with permanent jewelry. I could not be more grateful. ❤️

This Saturday I am hosting a pop up at my home for my first event… kind of a launch party if you will. I’m so excited to share this with my clients. I would love you to join me or maybe you would like to host your own pop up!

If you have any questions, would like to schedule your own pop up or to schedule a time on Saturday, feel free to reach out to email me at cdbykrislanae@gmail.com.

Atlanta Gift Show Fun

I’m sitting at the airport waiting to board my flight home to Minnesota. My heart is full and my creative juices are flowing. I cannot wait to get home and create…

My line with Demdaco launched another cycle of She Inspires inspirational items. I am so incredibly grateful to help to empower women with this positive and uplifting line.

This cycle included the debut of some frames and wall art which is very exciting for me. This is a line that I was creating during my recovery from surgery back in March and I continue to be grateful for my health. I do not take it for granted.

Truly it is fun to hang out by the display in the showroom and hear comments from the customers.

I got to hang with my friend Mary from high school, many, many years ago! Its such a gift to have several days to explore and enjoy Atlanta.

We tend to get a little silly…

I am so thankful to work a fabulous team from Demdaco… my heart is so full!!

I may have to sneak a nap in somewhere as there were just not enough hours in the fun filled ATL days!

Have an incredible day!

Kris

Hello long lost friends… I’ve missed you!

It’s hard to believe it has been several years since my last post. I hope you are well!

My kids have grown from middle schoolers to adults (my baby graduates this year-don’t get me started (sniff!))… life has been joyful, busy, fulfilling, challenging, yet incredibly rewarding. I am so grateful.

I have been having a blast creating recently and here are a few necklaces that I posted on Facebook, all sold but I am happy to create something similar by request.

I have cleared my inventory in my Etsy shop… at this time I don’t have plans to reopen.

You can find me on Facebook: Cherish Designs by Kris Lanae on Instagram as KrisLanae.

My focus this year is to be more consistent in all areas of my life. I struggle with tunnel vision and I am excited to work on balance.

I hope that your day is filled with sunshine! I missed you!

🙂 Kris

Celebrating Friendship

I am always honored when I am asked to create a custom design… And this one really was heartfelt.

A group of longtime friends wanted to create a necklace for their dear friend who is battling cancer.

They wanted to give her courage… And to celebrate her family. Faith is a key part of her life and all of those elements were crucial to incorporate into her design.

We started with the Best Mom Ever pendant.

20140608-085630.jpg

I created individual charms to celebrate her love for each of her family members.

20140608-091044.jpg

Her faith is important to her. I created a faith charm and added a cross to create a layering necklace that can be worn alone or as a group.

20140628-052814.jpg

This group of friends wanted to give their friend courage and so we created a double layering chain hi-lighting their special gift.

20140628-053122.jpg

This necklace was an honor to create… It is a beautiful celebration of friendship…

20140628-053647.jpg

Friendship is a beautiful thing and I was so grateful to help this group of friends express their love and support in a meaningful keepsake.

Xo, Kris

Bead Soup Reveal!!!

I am so excited that the reveal is finally upon us! I have the best partners! This is my third year and I have enjoyed my experience so much!

A special shout out to Lori Anderson, our hostess, author, friend and inspiration! This is a ginormous undertaking for her! Please visit her blog and give her some extra love. Her journey has been extraordinary and a lesser girl would crumble!
Lori Anderson, Hostess http://www.PrettyThingsBlog.com

My partner is the dynamically talented Lea Avroch…

She sent me the most delicious soup!!Thank you Lea! I am thrilled to be a friend and honored to work with your lovely soup!

20140509-023842.jpg

Lea can be found behind her torch creating amazing lampwork and beautiful goodies. Her blog is http://www.lajewelrydesign.blogspot.com. Our styles are uniquely different… She is a seed bead dynamo and I am a wire addict. We have a commonality in our love for upcycled elements.

Here is the soup I sent her… (I always get nervous and I know I overdid it… But the rules state that all you really need to use is the focal and the clasp so she can use the elements that speak to her… I am eager to see her reveal! Please go check it out!

20140509-025526.jpg

And finally… Here is my reveal!

20140509-030931.jpg

I created a trio of necklaces…
I love layering!

20140509-031101.jpg
The main focal necklace centers around Lea’s beautiful beadwork. I wired all of the elements, added a few of my own including the sparkly vintage element that dangles from the focal.

20140509-031328.jpg

The second necklace is a more delicate necklace…

20140509-031520.jpg

A tiny wirework flower I made with Lea’s super cool almost iridescent glass happily dangling.

The third necklace is a long layering piece that can be worn double wrapped on its own.

20140509-031803.jpg

I also created a double wrap bracelet…

20140509-210549.jpg

20140509-210926.jpg

I made a pair of earrings…

20140509-211117.jpg

And I made a funky ring…

20140509-211235.jpg

It was a goal of mine to use all of my soup this year and I did not achieve my goal… But I am thrilled with my loot and grateful for my partner.

We would love you to hop on over to all of the other participants…
Click here: http://lorianderson-beadsoupblogparty.blogspot.com//2014/04/welcome-to-8th-bead-soup-blog-party.html

I am unfortunately not able to hop until after Sunday!! Thank you for stopping by and happy hopping!

Creating Balance…

Gosh, I missed you guys. How have you been?

Life gets so busy and I sure did let time slip away.

I have been busy creating.

20140509-015821.jpg

Creating centers me… Brings me joy.

20140509-015936.jpg

I have been creating a long time… In one form or another since I was young. I found this pair of earrings that I created, I was thinking it was the early nineties, but my Roomie remembers me creating similar jewelry in the late 80’s! WOWZERS. That really dates me.

When you look at these earrings, keep in mind the big hair that complemented them oh let’s say about 26 years ago! Ha! I guess that makes them vintage!

20140509-020507.jpg

I know you want a pair, but I regret to inform you that the eighties bandwagon has passed, COL (Chuckling Out Loud!!).

20140509-021225.jpg

I also created a necklace and earring set for a special friend with her Great Grandma’s gorgeous set of jewelry.

20140509-021440.jpg

I had so much to work with… And I am so lucky to be able to create, add balance and bring joy.

I have been creating some super special Mother’s Day gifts, but will have to wait until after the weekend to share!

I hope your day is filled with joy and balance!
🙂 Kris

Happy Spring! What? Winter Weather Advisory?

Poor little birdies singing in the trees must be too c.c.cold to sing this morning as the wind whips and the clouds pose the ominous threat of 6 to 10 inches of snow!

As you know, I celebrate winter… It is stunningly beautiful… Sometimes I make myself find the beauty when I am yearning for sunshine. Yearning for the feeling of grass on my bare feet and the laughter from our kids playing outdoors.

I guess you could call the stark, colorless view pretty.

20140416-082944.jpg

If you are really reaching, you might find the beauty of the snow sifting in the cracks…

20140416-083346.jpg

You may even find the gently falling snow relaxing… Peaceful… Quiet…

Or you may just find it absolutely and utterly comical! That’s where I am at right now!

It is mid April! I realize that we live in Minnesota… Yes, it is a frozen tundra! However we look forward to our limited days of spring/summer weather. Sunshine and warmth, please come back to visit us!

Despite being chilly and cold, I have been creating!

20140416-083827.jpg

Flutter By… A necklace that will be perfect with shorts and a tee… Not today tho!

20140416-083958.jpg

A triangle of texture…

20140416-084052.jpg

And a funky spoon with vintage rhinestones…

May you feel sunshine on your back today (not snow and wind!). Have a happy day!
🙂 Kris

A Tad Ominous…

It feels like this weekend is going to whiz past before it starts… The events on our calendar are a tad ominous… Thankfully it starts with an early out today. Here goes: Golf Qualifier, hockey, boys choir, hockey, hockey fundraiser, more hockey, boys choir mass, volleyball, hockey, lacrosse. Sleep? Maybe!

It should be a very fun weekend and before we know it we will be back to Monday!

Last night was the first softball game of the season. Ky totally shocked me because she got a 3 run homerun on her first hit of the season.

20140411-085214.jpg

Ha! She caught me off guard!

20140411-085345.jpg

I made quite a few faith related necklaces for some wholesale orders…

20140411-085458.jpg

I hope you have a relaxing weekend!

Creating Frenzy

Time seems to pass so quickly lately. After Thursdays late start due to more snow….

20140408-154455.jpg

20140408-154603.jpg

We are happily enjoying sunshine, melting snow and springlike weather.

20140408-154719.jpg

I have been on a creative frenzy!

20140408-154816.jpg

20140408-154909.jpg

Creating and creating…

20140408-155001.jpg

I have filled some wholesale orders and done a little destashing.

A lot of my time has been spend with my children racing (and I mean racing) back and forth to activities. My three children are in a total of 7 activities this spring. But truly, I would alway rather be busy than bored!

Enjoy your beautiful day!

Grandma’s Keys & Bead Soup

Happy Thursday!

My bead soup partner Lea Avroch received and revealed the soup ingredients I sent her so I can share it with you.

I struggle with decision making so it is hard for me to edit sometimes. I
Have to admit that I was nervous too because she is a fabulous glass artist and I didn’t want to disappoint. I had everything spread out and just couldn’t decide on what to send her, so I sent it all! Lol. I am hoping I didn’t overwhelm her, but I shared my inability to edit and told her that I didn’t expect her to use it all!

20140327-084637.jpg

As a wireworker, my wire of choice is steel… In consideration of her metal allergies I choose to work with copper for Lea’s soup. I created the focal and the clasp with some of the soup I sent her. I am also a chain junkie, but wasn’t certain of the purity of the copper chain I had, so I selected ribbon rather than chain.

20140327-085350.jpg

I also created a double sided believe pendant for her, you can see the back side in the photo above. I hammered the clasp and patina’d the elements. I am excited to see her creations.

Yesterday I had the honor of delivering a custom key necklace for a special client with her precious Grandma’s keys. I had so much fun creating this necklace, adding the perfect amount of bling with hardware.

20140327-085748.jpg

I see her wearing it layered with a white tee and jeans or dressier in a cute sweater dress!

20140327-085846.jpg

I have a bunch of work to complete today so I better get busy. Have a great day!

Ingredients Have Arrived: Bead Soup

Oh my! Getting a package in the mail is always a thrill… But when it is soup, and you know it is coming, the anticipation elevates.

It is Bead Soup time again. This is a ginormous undertaking by Lori Anderson of Pretty Things blog. I admire her so much, she has had a very trying journey in the past few years and I admire her determination.

I have been paired with the fabulous and talented Lea Avroch (LAJewelrydesigns.com & LAGypsyDesigns.com) she is a lampwork artist and a designer of unique upcycled sweater coats.

20140320-121229.jpg

With anticipation, I opened the package to discover beautifully wrapped boxes… I resisted the temptation only long enough to snap a quick photo.

As I opened the gift boxes, my eyes feasted on the color explosion within. I am excited to create with the bright color palette provided by Lea! I think she should receive my soup tomorrow so it will be fun to get her reaction.

20140320-125758.jpg

Thanks Lea! The soup is on!
Have a great day!

Bead Soup & DeStash

The past week has flown quickly by… My timing to do a huge DeStash and prepare my bead soup may not have been the best timing… But I did finally accomplish it all!

I am preparing an official post to show you the details and links for my partner fabulous Lea Avroch, she is a lampwork artist! Looking forward to some fabulous soup!

20140317-110621.jpg

Sorry that’s so bright… Can you see what I sent her? I know! That’s because I can’t show you until she receives it!

Here is another look!

20140317-110902.jpg

Chucking! No peeking!

The DeStash I participated in was in a private Facebook group my friend Patti organized (Facebook message me if you would like to be added). It is a great mix of vintage, jewelry supplies, beads, chain… Etc.

It took me more than 5 days to complete this DeStash and I should have scaled down a little but for my first one. It was a tad overwhelming.

20140317-111359.jpg

Here is my pile of packages to mail and I have seven left waiting for payment!

It has been a fun experience and a great lesson.

Well, I am off and running today… I hope you have a fabulous day!

Breathe

What a fantastic way to start the weekend! No school again today! After weeks of grueling hockey, swimming, ski club, boys choir, archery and volleyball practices for my children, only two of the six activities are ongoing! This morning due to icy conditions, they all got to sleep in and we all get a chance to just breathe!

Last week I created this baseball bracelet by special request of a pretty funky baseball mom!

20140227-091221.jpg
It was a fun bracelet to create for her!

I also listed more in my etsy shop yesterday. I hope to have more listings complete in the next few days.

This DrEAm necklace is available in my etsy shop here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/181739256/dream-hand-stamped-wax-seal-style

Regionals and Custom Patina Bleu

Wow, it has been days since I blogged. I am sorry for being so absent. Life has been overflowing with craziness…

Kya’s team advanced to regional playoffs and showed valiant fight and spirit. In the end, they finished their season with 27 wins (11 shutouts in a row), and five losses, the last three losses were in playoffs.

After their season ending loss, the girls regrouped and agreed to go cheer on Hutchinson. Our girls lost to Hutchinson in three of their five losses this year… Including their final loss of the season that ended their hopes to advance to the state tournament.

Why, you ask, would we encourage our girls to go cheer on a team that beat them three out of four times we played them? I have to admit, Tom was a huge motivator to watch them.

Our girls entered the arena where only hours earlier they left with broken hearts. They filed in and sat quietly watching the first few minutes. Slowly our girls got into the game, they dropped any resentment they may have had and started cheering for the Hutch team. The game remained close after the first two periods… As the Hutch team left the bench, the girls realized that they could use some cheering! So they ran all the way around the arena to high five the team and encourage them to win! They waited patiently for the team to exit the locker room and showed the girls their support!

20140304-134959.jpg

They created a cheer and loudly cheered for them!!! We were so stinking proud of these girls and their sportsmanship as they cheered on the team that beat them in a tie for district playoffs and handed them their final loss of the season. I am not sure that they could have represented themselves better.

Sadly, Hutch lost the game crushing their hopes to advance to state. Our little (River Lakes) Stars rushed around the arena to quietly and respectfully high five the team, relating to their heartbreaking loss. We could not be more proud of their display of sportsmanship. I asked some of the girls how they felt about the experience later and they shared that it was hard at first, but afterward they were happy they did it. It helped a lot to end the season supporting another team.

We are so grateful for the experience, after all it is our job as parents to teach our kids that it is not just about winning!

We took a little selfwe after the game the other morning. My little chick-a-doodle took the pick. She missed a little bit of us! Lol

20140304-140422.jpg

Last week, I had the awesome opportunity to create a necklace design for my sister to celebrate her good friend’s birthday.

20140304-140625.jpg

My sister had a clear idea of the design and I helped her tweak it a little. I love how it turned out! It is double sided…. Here is the back.

20140304-140840.jpg

I love how it turned out with the authentic blue patina on the vintage spoon and the vintage chain. Thank you for letting me be a part of your gift my sister! Xo

Thanks for sticking with me in my absence! We are looking forward to our world calming down. Xoxo

Prisms of Color & A Private Virtual Sale

Gosh the days are breezing by quickly…

We had some fun family time celebrating the most recent snow day Friday…

Keegan left for snowmobiling in Yellowstone with his Grandpa and cousin. He is currently 814 miles away from me… I know he is having a trip of a lifetime snowmobiling in Montana. My traditional goodbye since my kids were little was to kiss them goodnight and good morning for every day I would be gone. It used to help them to know how many mornings and nights I would be gone and as a Mom, I always wanted to get my daily kisses in.

As we left the house (I was considerate and attempted the tradition in the privacy of our home!) I started kissing his cheek goodnight-good morning. I only made it two and a half days when I started getting the Mooom resistance! I expected this from my almost 16 year old… The wrestling match ensued. I can still take him! At least I think I can, but amid laughter and a good tumble, I backed off. At least he know I tried.

District Hockey playoffs are finished. Yesterday morning the girls lost 2-3 in the Championship game to take second seed to Regional playoffs. The girls were disappointed but they played so hard this year. Sometimes loosing prepares you for your next game and we are hoping this loss makes them stronger when they take the ice Friday for Regionals.

I have created quite a bit this past week.

20140224-082841.jpg

A super sweet and special client wanted some colored crystals for layering and so I made quite a selection for her.

20140224-083020.jpg

They turned into some kind of cool color combinations.

20140224-083149.jpg

She got up early and met me at the hockey arena to select her favorites.

20140224-083318.jpg

I have quite a lot of work to do in four short days this week. Just for fun I am throwing in a quick Private Virtual Sale at noon central tomorrow. You can sign up by emailing me at CherishDesigns@live.com. If you have previously added yourself, you are still on the list.

Thanks and have a great day!

Instagraming It Up!

The past week has been a flurry of activity…

Kya’s hockey team secured their spot to advance to Regions in three games last weekend. I think Kya had one of her best games ever with two goals and two assists in a 4-0 win. Pretty Sweet. They have one more game to determine District Playoff Champs and first or second seed on Sunday morning. Keeping our fingers and toes crossed!

Kya is also at the end of her History Day project, a doozy of a project and we will be celebrating when she turns it in. This project takes months and we are so grateful that it is our last one!!

I have been having fun “Instagraming it up” lately! I love it because it is pretty quick to post and it is very visual.

20140219-094246.jpg

My account is KrisLanae, here is a photo of the True Love Infinity bracelet I posted today.

I had fun making this bracelet… It is a double wrap chain bracelet with a hand stamped key, wirework and a few other funky elements.

20140219-094648.jpg

I posted it in my etsy shop here: ( https://www.etsy.com/listing/179945564/true-love-infinity-double-wrap-hand )

I hope your day is filled with joy!

Let’s Play Hockey-American Pride

Hosting our home hockey tournament is a doozy of a job but very rewarding. This weekend we had the pleasure of hosting five teams from out of town. They were fun teams and really well matched.

We spent the entire weekend at the arena, from Friday eve until Sunday afternoon. I love our team because they are so eager to help out!

During one of the games yesterday, I walked back into the lobby and I found three boys standing still amidst about five other children in motion. I paused for a moment because it was so unusual. As I paused, I realized that the three of them were standing at attention, hands covering their sweet little hearts, respectfully in a field of motion listening to our National Anthem that was broadcast over the speakers… No American flag in sight. It was the most precious sight ever!

20140210-072057.jpg

I had to take a photo of these sweet little respectful boys… I blurred it because I don’t know their parents, but I just had to share. It was one of the highlights of my weekend! What amazing American Pride!

One of the other highlights was that my chick-a-doodle got a playmaker award which is three assists in one game… Her line had an amazing game as one of her wings got two assists and her other wing got a hat trick… And the score was three to zero. So two of the goals had double assists! I love team work like that!! So much fun to watch!

20140210-135817.jpg

I have some hockey mom necklaces left over and available for sale. Email me and I can send you the list to choose from (CherishDesigns@live.com)

20140210-140340.jpg

And I have only one of the let’s play hockey necklaces!!

Have a fun day!

Terrarium Necklaces

20140207-072921.jpg

One of the Christmas gifts I was so excited about giving this year was the succulent necklaces that I made for my family. There was a bit of a hiccup with shipping and me not receiving the proper quantity ordered and so my sweet sister finally received her necklace yesterday!

My Mom and sister have the most amazing green thumbs, however I can unintentionally kill just about anything green! I ordered the terrarium and plant from a wholesaler and put my spin on the chains and charms.

20140207-073805.jpg

As long as I had to order another one, I ordered a few extra for my sister to sell exclusively at her flower shop for Valentines Day! I delivered them yesterday. If you are local, make sure to visit her and order your flowers from her at Bloom Coffee and Floral. Here is her Facebook link: (https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=90547871897) You can reach her at 320-243-ROSE.

Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend!
