Bead Soup Reveal!!!

I am so excited that the reveal is finally upon us! I have the best partners! This is my third year and I have enjoyed my experience so much!

A special shout out to Lori Anderson, our hostess, author, friend and inspiration! This is a ginormous undertaking for her! Please visit her blog and give her some extra love. Her journey has been extraordinary and a lesser girl would crumble!
Lori Anderson, Hostess http://www.PrettyThingsBlog.com

My partner is the dynamically talented Lea Avroch…

She sent me the most delicious soup!!Thank you Lea! I am thrilled to be a friend and honored to work with your lovely soup!

Lea can be found behind her torch creating amazing lampwork and beautiful goodies. Her blog is http://www.lajewelrydesign.blogspot.com. Our styles are uniquely different… She is a seed bead dynamo and I am a wire addict. We have a commonality in our love for upcycled elements.

Here is the soup I sent her… (I always get nervous and I know I overdid it… But the rules state that all you really need to use is the focal and the clasp so she can use the elements that speak to her… I am eager to see her reveal! Please go check it out!

And finally… Here is my reveal!

20140509-030931.jpg

I created a trio of necklaces…
I love layering!

20140509-031101.jpg
The main focal necklace centers around Lea’s beautiful beadwork. I wired all of the elements, added a few of my own including the sparkly vintage element that dangles from the focal.

20140509-031328.jpg

The second necklace is a more delicate necklace…

20140509-031520.jpg

A tiny wirework flower I made with Lea’s super cool almost iridescent glass happily dangling.

The third necklace is a long layering piece that can be worn double wrapped on its own.

20140509-031803.jpg

I also created a double wrap bracelet…

20140509-210549.jpg

20140509-210926.jpg

I made a pair of earrings…

20140509-211117.jpg

And I made a funky ring…

20140509-211235.jpg

It was a goal of mine to use all of my soup this year and I did not achieve my goal… But I am thrilled with my loot and grateful for my partner.

We would love you to hop on over to all of the other participants…

Ingredients Have Arrived: Bead Soup

Oh my! Getting a package in the mail is always a thrill… But when it is soup, and you know it is coming, the anticipation elevates.

It is Bead Soup time again. This is a ginormous undertaking by Lori Anderson of Pretty Things blog. I admire her so much, she has had a very trying journey in the past few years and I admire her determination.

I have been paired with the fabulous and talented Lea Avroch (LAJewelrydesigns.com & LAGypsyDesigns.com) she is a lampwork artist and a designer of unique upcycled sweater coats.

With anticipation, I opened the package to discover beautifully wrapped boxes… I resisted the temptation only long enough to snap a quick photo.

As I opened the gift boxes, my eyes feasted on the color explosion within. I am excited to create with the bright color palette provided by Lea! I think she should receive my soup tomorrow so it will be fun to get her reaction.

Thanks Lea! The soup is on!
Have a great day!

Bead Soup & DeStash

The past week has flown quickly by… My timing to do a huge DeStash and prepare my bead soup may not have been the best timing… But I did finally accomplish it all!

I am preparing an official post to show you the details and links for my partner fabulous Lea Avroch, she is a lampwork artist! Looking forward to some fabulous soup!

20140317-110621.jpg

Sorry that’s so bright… Can you see what I sent her? I know! That’s because I can’t show you until she receives it!

Here is another look!

20140317-110902.jpg

Chucking! No peeking!

The DeStash I participated in was in a private Facebook group my friend Patti organized (Facebook message me if you would like to be added). It is a great mix of vintage, jewelry supplies, beads, chain… Etc.

It took me more than 5 days to complete this DeStash and I should have scaled down a little but for my first one. It was a tad overwhelming.

20140317-111359.jpg

Here is my pile of packages to mail and I have seven left waiting for payment!

It has been a fun experience and a great lesson.

Well, I am off and running today… I hope you have a fabulous day!

BeadSoup-a-licious: Meet Sandi

I am excited to introduce you to my Bead Soup Blog Party Partner Sandi Volpe.

I am thrilled to meet Sandi! We have a lot in common!

MEET SANDI:

I am mom of three boys, 15, 13 and 8 living in a soccer obsessed household in Northern Virginia outside of DC.

I have always collected interesting jewelry and made earrings with my mom’s vintage crystals and re-did jewelry pieces I owned. I designed my engagement ring with sapphires from earrings my mom gave me and re-designed them too.

I decided to stay home after 2 jobs and 2 boys wasn’t working any more. I knew it was the right decision I because I was on a dream project at the Library of Congress working on a digital library for the Motion Picture and Recorded Sound division, but knew I could not keep up the pace of the commute, etc.

I promised I would give myself at least of year of being a stay at home mom before considering work, that was 12 years ago and I took longer than a year to decide as I had my third baby.

I looked in to all the check book parties like tupperware etc. I hosted a Silpada party and decided I would rather design and make my own jewelry, so that’s what motivated me to start.

I started stringing and soldering pendants and I loved it. I have been taking classes and honing my metal smithing and wire working skills and now lamp working. I love lamp work beads and decided to try my hand making them. I love making the entire piece.

This is my 5th bead soup party and I am lucky enough to see Lori on a regular basis as she lives 1.5 hours away.

I love the creative process and have met some amazing women through the BSBP as well as artBliss which is a retreat that is 10 minutes from my house. I have such easy access to classes in Virginia and can go to Bead Fest in Philly too.

I am hoping to create a more cohesive line this year and up production.

SOUP REVEAL:
And now I would like to show you the fantastic bead soup I received from Sandi!

20130225-082151.jpg

Our reveal date is March 30th, so be sure to subscribe or bookmark my blog to see what we come up with! Also please check out Sandi’s blog to check out her creations with the soup I sent her! {I’ll reveal the soup I sent her in the next day or two and the final reveal will be 3/30/13.}

20130225-082107.jpg

Sandi sent a fantastic soup and I am going to have so much fun with it!

20130225-082457.jpg

I cannot tell you how excited I am by the elements she created for me and the gorgeous supporting materials.

To begin with I received the fabulous lamp work and enamel work she sent. I was in awe when I unwrapped them! I am excited about the waxed linen, as I have not created with it yet and will enjoy the challenge!

20130225-083018.jpg

On the left, you will see her delicate craftsmanship in the clasp she created for me. I love the fly pendant too! Sandi and I are both took “flying lessons” and we have that experience in common.

20130225-083901.jpg

And Sandi picked up on my Addiction for all things vintage and added some vintage love in her soup!

I am so excited to begin creating! Thank you Sandi for the FUNtastic elements to work with!!

{weekend update}
As I mentioned the other day, Kya’s hockey team had game four of district playoffs on Friday night. Kya had a terrific game scoring the second goal of the game and almost scoring to tie the game, but it was not meant to be. They lost 2-3 ending their season. It was especially sad because they won’t be playing together until high school. Our pace will slow down now without hockey practice and games!!! Whew!

Saturday was a highlight with her volleyball team moving up to Gold level and taking first place. Their first time winning championship in Gold!

Life is all about the lessons learned in losing and winning… But there is more to life than the wins and the losses… Being thankful for opportunities, teamwork, the ability to learn and grow and develop long lasting friendships… That’s what I am grateful for!

It is official, I mentioned a few months ago that Keegan has to have another surgery for his MHE (bone tumors that are not malignant but grow at the growth plates). He is scheduled for March 28, he will have the pins in his ankles removed (this is going to be pretty invasive and land him on crutches for another 4-6 weeks) and they will remove the 8-plate above his knee. The great news is that he will be hardware free for the first time since he was 9 years old, he is now 14! Guess we will need to prepare our living room to be an Xbox game room over Easter break!

I hope you have a fantastic Monday!

Bead Soup Fixin’s

20120728-071420.jpg

The hustle and bustle of the weekend has been fun so far… Thankfully events seem to be spaced out just enough that we are not at a frantic pace!

Sawyer’s audition Friday night for the Mn State Fair Talent Show was fantastic. I was so proud of him! He got up on stage at 12 years old and had his first ever musical glitch… The cd would not play… Horrifying for a Mom & Dad to watch. Tom rushed back stage while I brought a backup cd to the sound technician (so thankful for listening to my instinct on making two cd’s… So grateful! Not sure what we would have done!).

He waited back stage for two more performers and bravely stepped on the stage again! I was so incredibly proud of him.

I alway record his performances and load them to YouTube. As we started on the almost two hour drive home, I tried to play my video and it had disappeared. Thankfully Tom also video’d, so I will share his. His version is a few beats into the song since he had to run from back stage to our seats! I have to figure how to upload from his phone, but I will share it soon!

Keegan’s team was in district playoffs for baseball and faced the Cold Spring team they beat in the Championship game of playoffs. They lost and the season is officially over.

I am so exited to reveal my bead soup fixin’s that I received from my partner, Pam Hurst of Pam Hurst Designs. Her work is beautiful, intricate and I am in awe!

My professional package opener (Kya), opened the exciting package for me and this is what we found:

20120728-112306.jpg

A cute box with Pam’s branding on it!

20120728-112906.jpg

Sweet packaging with everything in cute little bags.

20120728-113110.jpg

This fabulous assortment of gemstones, sterling and Pam’s handmade gorgeous focal. It would look beautiful on its own as you can see, I laced it through some Matt black chain.

20120728-135144.jpg

This is a view of the back… Is is super cool on it’s own, so I will be making something reversible.

20120728-114214.jpg
Our reveal date is August 11, but the first reveal is happening now… Go to my friend Lori’s blog to hop along.

Check out my friend Hilary’s post too! She has a great reveal!

This morning we are bringing Sawyer and Kya to camp for a week. It’s going to be kind of quiet around home this week.

Have a great Sunday! πŸ™‚ Kris
