Dynamic Duo – DIY Dish

When you meet the Dynamic Duo, Kim & Kris of The DIY Dish, a weekly Craft & Sewing Webshow, you have to do a double take! I had the honor to get to know them a little as they shopped in my booth at The Creative Connection.

I can tell you they are as much fun in person as they are on camera! They were a hoot trying on my jewelry before they taped 3 episodes at TCC.
Kris bought one of my favorite necklaces created with a vintage glass door knob with a wired nest and vintage element! What a blast to get to know them! They are kind, funny and full of giggles! You can check out their website here.

20110921-091700.jpg¬†As I unwind a little from TCC and I move onto a couple of wholesale orders and an order for a crown, I am filled with gratitude for this journey. I could not have asked for more from a weekend… I do have more to share with you, but it will come in time as I work to balance my commitments. I leave you with some photos of my drive to work today… Who knew cloudy skies could be so beautiful!

Brave Girls are Amazing Girls

I have so much to share with you from the past few days… I am going to have to break it up a little over the course of a few days…

The amazing thing about the Creative Connection is that with all of the incredible speakers and attendees, you never know who you are talking to next. Now, please don’t get me wrong, people are people and I value them all equally, but I have to confess that it was very hard not to get star struck!

I also have to admit that I am terrible at recognizing people! I am talking with the most delightful and beautiful woman (from the inside out, you know how you can tell this in people right?). And she is looking for a gift for her sister for her 40th birthday, I think she even had to tell me her sister’s name before I figured out who she was! (Duh!) ūüôā

It was Kathy Wilkins, Co-founder of Brave girls club, shopping for her sister Melody Ross’ birthday next month.

She picked up the necklace that I created with a nest & 3 eggs and the adorable bird dangling from it. She asked if I could add two eggs (Melody has 5 children) to the necklace and amazingly I had the broken vintage necklace with me so I could customize it for her!

Here it is in it’s finished state, customized for the Brave Girl’s!

Isn’t it perfect for Melody! Now we are about to come to the best part! It is the end of the day and Tom and the kids arrived to help me pack up. Kathy walks up to me and I get the necklace for her. Then suddenly Melody walks up and I hide the necklace, but Kathy decides to give it to her, right then and there in front of me. It was an amazing and emotional moment, the gift was mine to be a part of that sweet moment between sisters.

Melody loved the necklace and gave me a hug… My heart was filled with joy to be a part of that moment. Thank you Kathy and Melody for allowing me the privilege! Brave Girls Rock!

I will share more about my weekend adventures soon!

All Wired Up!!

Oh My Word, I am all wired up for the coming weekend, starting on Thursday!

A trip to the Junk Bonanza & then on to set up my booth at the Creative Connection. If you live close by, it is well worth a trip to see the amazing Hand Crafted work at the MarketPlace! It will be held at The Crown Plaza in St. Paul and the hours Friday are from 1:30-9:30pm and 10am to 6pm on Saturday.

My family has been incredible, my hubby has been a trooper, makeing chains and pricing, & all three of my kids have helped create my background and have been patient while I wired away most evenings.

I hope you can stop by, and if you can’t, I will do my best go give a photo tour!

The Clock Is Ticking…

Only a week left to prepare for the Creative Connection MarketPlace… I am super excited to meet new friends and old friends!

A little funky chunky bling! This necklace started with an amazing vintage brooch with a circle of rhinestones and two beautiful blossoms… I¬†wrapped and pushed and prodded wire until I liked how it cradled the beautiful vintage brooch and added a funky chunky chain. $79

I had a little fun with non-traditional jewelry elements! Come On, Fork It Over! ūüôā¬† I created a sweet flower using a vintage crystal and wired it to the base of the fork and wrapped crystals and wire around the vintage children’s fork. It is always so much fun to wear something non-tradition. $68

This pendant started with vintage buttons… a trio of them¬†wire swirls around¬†beautiful crystals from a vintage necklace and some smaller black crystals… Upcycled and fresh! $89

Well, the clock is ticking as time is quickly passing… I have a ton of things to finish before my show and need to¬†work on my display…

Enjoy the beautiful day! Kris

Silver Bella Preparation…

I feel like this necklace really exudes Silver Bella… It’s Very Grande… It made the sparkle all by itself too!

Wish you could see it in person… the crystals wired around the exterior add¬†a touch of magnificent bling.¬†

And I have the best husband in the world, he has been making the bases of the bracelets for me… he took a pic and sent it to me to ask me how they were looking. He is truly the best! The will look similar to this when they are complete!

Looking forward to Silver Bella… and thankful for my friends who are taking care of my booth in the Dollars For Scholars Women’s Expo in Cold Spring on the same night!

The Creative Connection & Handmade Market Tomorrow!

I am so excited about The Handmade Market at the Creative Connection Event starting tomorrow. It is at the Minneapolis Hyatt and should be an amazing show! It is a juried show, and the selection of vendors is truly exciting. The show runs from Wednesday through Saturday and I hope to see you there!

Vintage Bling

This necklace was created with a vintage chandelier crystal, wired in  a chunky way with droplets of crystals and fine wire dangling from the bottom.

This sweet ring might be one of my new favorite blingy rings… I took a vintage piece, wired and glue it onto the ring base. How sweet it is…

Buffalo Bank

I have had this cover from a Buffalo MN Bank Box for about 3 years. I knew I wanted to make something with it, but just didn’t have a vision for it. I wired this circle of wire snugly so it is secure. There are no sharp edges, and the end result is kind of funky.

All of these for sale & more at The Handmade Market at the Creative Connection Event. More details about the event… you can click to follow the link. Entrance is $10 Thursday through Saturday and the preview show tickets are $30 each on Wednesday from 6-9 pm.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for my blog giveaway that I am doing in connection with the event! Lots of ways to win!

It’s An Addiction…

I guess the first step is admitting it, so I have to confess… that I am addicted to

swirly bundles of wire… with funky vintage brooches glittering above them.

I made another pendant last night. This one is extra special because my daughter, Kya¬†picked it out. The vibrant color green of this vintage brooch is to die for… especially if you are addicted to this particular combination, you would do anything..¬†(okay, sorry for¬†being dramatic!) well almost anything¬†to have it¬†snuggle into this nest of wire and hang from a grungy chunky chain. My fingers made me do it!

As selected by my Chickie…

And another view… I don’t think it shows very well, but the green is fabulous. Can you see why I am addicted?

Have an amazing day!

No More Tears…. just teardrops!

Gosh, I think this has to be one of my new favorites… It happened on its own. Okay, my hands again… but it wasn’t a vision I had.

I started by creating  teardrop frame of heavier gauge wire, and I created a few more teardrops, each one smaller on the inside of the other. I wrapped them together, made the bail with the same wire and finished it by wire wrapping the base of the bail.

I then took some of my favorite vintagy¬†beads from a necklace… I adore the worn look of the beads and the different textures. I just started looping, playing with wire and stringing the beads until I had a row of loopy silly wire and beads. I then started at the base of the bail and wrapped the finer gauge¬†wire to the base of the bail. I secured the strand of loopy wire and beads to the teardrops¬†all the way around the teardrop base and back up to the bail. I then took this vintage¬†white flower and placed it in the center of the teardrop … and no more tears, just one teardrop vintagy¬†white and whispy pendant!

Does it look like a teardrop? Can you see the loopy wire… I had so much fun with that! I wish I had taken pics as I was creating it, but it was labor day weekend and I was sitting in a waterpark creating while¬†watching my kids swim! We were all happy!

I hope you have a tearfree, happy, whispy loopy day!

Precious Child, great shopper…

My daughter Kya, who is 9 years old¬†traveled with her friend to their cabin last weekend. After the weekend away, my daughter bounces in the door and runs to me excitedly. “MOM, we went garage SALE-ING!!!! And I found you some AWESOME things!!!!” She is such a sweet child to be thinking of me and what I would love when she could have shopped only for herself. And boy did she find some terrific finds… I am going to feature one of my favorites today. I have worn it for two days in a row (that never happens ūüôā ) And I will never be able to sell this one… it is so precious to me.

A precious gift...

This vintage piece that my precious child found is a vintage brooch with clear rhinestones and is missing a couple of stones which totally adds to its charachter. I wrapped it and created a nest out of wire for it and hung it on a chunky chain. It can be worn doubled around the neck or long.

Thank you Kya for the precious gift. I will hold it dear to my heart.

May your day be filled with precious moment that you can treasure! Kris

The Handmade Market at The Creative Connection Event

I am really getting excited about being a vendor at The Handmade Market and meeting everyone from The Creative Connection Event! Super Psyched and working like crazy to increase my inventory. Wish I knew how much jewelry to have on hand,  I totally would rather have way too much as opposed to selling out!

Would love your opinion on my banner. I do not think I am done with it, so I will post it… please feel free to comment. Am I missing anything? Is it dorky?

I think I need to take a step away and look at it objectively.

It's okay to change

It’s funny, this was a bracelet… but I didn’t love it. I know, someone else might have liked it as a bracelet, but I didn’t love it. Now I love it as a necklace. Trying to decide if I can sell it!

Add a little sparkle to your day!

I hope you are having  a fabulous day! Hope to see you at The Handmade Market!
