Designs Are Brewing!

20120925-074246.jpg

I had a blast creating last night…

Sometimes designs just happen without too much thought. That happened for me last night. Love!

20120925-074801.jpg

It was my first chance to create with treasures from the Live, Love, JUNK retreat and the Junk Bonanza & now I am wishing I had bought more measuring tape! The designs are brewing!

The ribbon was another find from a vendor at the Junk Bonanza…

Oh yes, and the clipboard was a new treasure! I love it! Love it with my old book paper as a background!

Enjoy and have a fabulous Tuesday!

🙂 Kris

Vintage Button Love

20120308-054812.jpg

There is a happy sensory feeling about putting your hand in a jar of vintage buttons, collected one by one over the years by a loving mother of a large family doing her part conserving for her family. Often there will be shreds of thread or even swatches of fabric attached… If only the buttons could share the stories of the sweet children playing by the stream or Grandmas loving hands baking bread.

As I create with vintage joy, I often wonder about the story of each element that I create with.

This necklace includes vintage buttons, a crystal, pearl and beautiful rose carved bead swirled with wire and finished with a remnant of ribbon.

Do you have special mementos from your family history that you treasure?

Have an amazing day! 🙂 Kris

Sari Ribbon Blog Hop

Sari Ribbon Party Blog Hop

Thank You Brenda from B’SueBoutiques.com for hosting this blog hop. I wanted to start by sharing with you what Sari Ribbon is… and where you can get it. B’Sue boutiques stocks it here.

It is fun to play with and there are a ton of uses for it. I bought mine shortly before Brenda announced the blog hop. I am so thankful I decided to participate in the blog hop, because I often create with more neutral colors in my jewelry and this blog hop challenged me to step into the world of color. Now as I post my photos, the colors are not showing as dynamic as they are in real life!

Sari Ribbon from B’Sue: Made in textile mills in India, these are remnants of old sari material, cut down in narrow strips and then tied or sewn together. They are frayed, tattered, skinny, wide…and completely wonderful! We offer you a 30 *foot* length, neatly curled into a ball. Within that ball you well may find earthtones, brilliant jewel tones, pastels….the colors of the rainbow, literally. Is what it is, there is no choice over color or type….and content? Well, I can’t entirely say….some of the ‘ribbon’ is cottony, some silky, some is coarse. For sure you’ll find something to love and use to good advantage!

Here is the necklace I created with Sari Ribbon. I used the gorgeous jewel tone ribbon to create the necklace. I wired my own hook clasp and incorporated the vintage pearls that I used in the pendant to add interest to the clasp. I also added some of the sari ribbon into the actual pendant as well.

I know, are you shocked, I made earrings… Simple, two vintage pearls, sari ribbon and some twists of wire. br />

And a cuff… I started with a fabulous cuff (also from B’Sue), I wrapped wire around the base of the cuff and started twirling the wire around the vintage elements and jewel toned crystals and completed the look to match the collection.

And a better view of the front…

And a totally different style, my take on the popular wrap bracelet. I took smaller crystals, 28 Gauge wire, leather & Sari… I wrapped many feet of wire & crystals around the leather & ribbon! Fun & easy!

And here is another view with my daughter modeling for me. 🙂

Inspired To Create

I hope today finds you with joy in your heart as the seasons gently change from summer to fall.

Our weekend included a birthday celebration…

20110906-092437.jpg. Sawyer is now 12 years old and we celebrated with an ice-cream cake! Mmmmmmmm, Delish! I cannot believe that my kids are about to be 11, 12 & 13! Where has that time gone?

I had a creatively productive weekend as I pushed myself to meet my quota!

I have been humbled by your requests to purchase necklaces that I have shared with you… Thank you so much. I will list prices by my new jewelry that is for sale, just in case you are inspired to own one of my originals. 🙂 I am grateful.

20110906-093313.jpg
The necklace pictured above has amazing color tones from the vintage flower, I used other similar toned vintage beads to create a unique and funky necklace. ($89)

20110906-094324.jpg

This necklace embodies sweetness and presents a beautiful presence of ribbon & pearls. ($79)

20110906-094657.jpg

Oh my word, this necklace is a new favorite… The joy of ribbons, pearls, unique vintage beads, elements and wire… Reminds me of lilies of the valley, one of my favorite flowers. ($98)

20110906-095231.jpg

This bird in a nest necklace is a lighter version of my nest using two different gauges of wire for a more textured look. The birdie is made out of a vintage serving tray. Crystals are embedded in the nest…You Can Fly! ($68)

Thanks for stopping by! Many more photos of new creations to come! Have a fabulous day! Kris

2010 Bloomer’s Christmas Tree Tour- An American Cancer Society Fundraiser

We would love to invite you to the 2010 Christmas Tree Tour in Paynesville, MN on Saturday, November 27 from 10am to 3 pm. Our core team consists of my Mom, my sister Karlene, our friend Tracy and myself. We have many friends who help us and support us.

All four of our grandparents had cancer and last year our Mom was diagnosed with cancer. She is doing fantastic thankfully! We are committed to finding a cure and have had amazing support from our community. Last year our team was able to donate $14,000 to the American Cancer Society.

The Christmas Tree Tour is an exciting tour this year. There are so many giving friends who have generously opened their homes for the day for the Christmas Tree Tour. You will tour a wonderful selection of homes in Paynesville, receive a free brewed coffee at Bloom Coffee & Floral where you can pick up your map and tickets… lunch is included and will be served at Ron & Judy’s restaurant this year. A ticket raffle is ongoing at Bloom this week with a fun selection of prizes including a brand new ipod touch donated by my Mom and this necklace I donated. So stop into Bloom this week for tickets!
