Vintage Luggage Tag Cuff

I love the contrast of the dark vintage luggage tag with the grungy silver cuff. Wire in some funky bling and the result is a fun adjustable cuff that can be worn with a multitude of finishes.

Have a happy day!

Bead Soup Reveal: It’s Finally Here!

Welcome friends. I am super excited about this bead soup reveal! A huge THANK YOU to beautiful Lori Anderson, Author, blogger, Facebook facilitator, inspiration and Dynamo. Lori’s Bead Soup Blog hop has grown to quite an incredible party. Despite obstacles and challenges in her life, she is incredibly dedicated and diligent about hosting an amazing party with three reveal dates.

Here is Lori’s book about bead soup. I encourage you to buy it directly from Lori via the link further down in the post. (It is a fantastic book and I am so happy for her!)

This is my second time participating and I was paired with an incredibly talented partner, Sandi Volpe. Here is my Meet Sandi Blog post.

The soup she sent me was Delish!!

To begin with, I fell in LOVE with Sandi’s work. I love the beautiful head pins she made and her gorgeous glasswork! You will be happy to know that she listed some headpins in her etsy shop, so feel free to shop!!

Sandi sent me an abundance of ingredients. I used quite a bit of it, there are a few items I am looking forward to playing with in the future.

We are fellow fly sisters, both Sandi and I took Kelly Rae Roberts Flying Lessons Class and so the gorgeous fly focal was very meaningful to me.

There are more photos of the soup I received on the link above. Please visit Sandi and see what soup she whipped up here.

When I signed up for the soup, I was not aware that my son would be having surgery just before the reveal date. We had plenty of time to create and photograph prior, but I must say, had I allowed myself a little more extra time, I would have tweaked my design just a tad. (We arrived home from the hospital this afternoon and my son is doing so well after 5 incisions, 6 screws and a plate being removed.) I will be hopping and visiting each of the participants, but it may take me a few days!

Okay, a little about me. I call myself a jewelry junkie… I have loved jewelry my entire life. I have redesigned and created jewelry for many years. After encouragement from my friends, I started selling my jewelry in 2007.

I am a wire addict and I love using vintage and unique elements in my jewelry. I also am fortunate to sell my jewelry wholesale to boutiques and to have secured a couple of art licensing agreements with major gift manufacturers. My most recent work is manufactured by Creative Co-op and sold nationwide. It is such a thrill!

Okay… On to the reveal:

I love versatile jewelry,,, jewelry that can be worn in more than one way. I hope you will be able to see the versatility in the photos.

The first necklace is the most complex:

This photo shows a trio of delicate chain I added with a matte black lobster clasp. There are actually three pendants hanging down and I wanted to be able to switch them out with ease. I can wear all three or a single pendant.

Here are the individual pendants:

The first one Sandi shared the gorgeous lamp work bead from Heather of HMB studios and she hand wired and beaded an intricate weaving of seed beads. It is so beautifully made. I wired the top section and created an open bail. I also tied some of the beautiful sari silk from Sandi’s packaging onto the wire.

The second pendant I created with gorgeous Fly pendant Sandi gave me that was created by Barbara Bechtel of Second Surf Studio.

The third in the trio of pendants I created with one of Sandi’s super cool head pins. I love the circular swirls, Total Love! I also used the swirl as inspiration for the chain I made on the left side of the necklace.

Each of the pendants in the trio can be worn individually on a chain. Love the flexibility!

So I mentioned the swirl chain…
I incorporated Sandi’s beautiful lamp work beads with the swirl link chain I created. On the right side you see the nest I hand wired with a trio of crystals and a bird made from a vintage serving tray (I had to add a little vintage love). Above the nest is the cool faceted labrodite.

The next photo shows the beautifully beaded clasp Sandi wired with delicate seed beads, it is so intricate and well made. I opted to create a wired hook to connect to the clasp for a little more flexibility in the finished design.

Here are a few other ways to wear this necklace…

20130329-212240.jpg It can clasp like a choker…

20130329-212554.jpg and clasp it shorter than the original style.

I also created a more delicate necklace with the second of Sandi’s headpins. It is shown layered with the necklace attached above the nest rather than below the nest.

I also created a pair of earrings with some of the beads I had remaining. I added more of the sari silk.

And a final photo of both necklaces layered on my fav dress form.

Finally, please visit Sandi and the other fabulous participants listed on Lori’s blog here.

Thanks you for subscribing to my blog, liking my page on Facebook and follow me on Pinterest, my etsy shop or twitter!

Thanks for putting up with my incredibly long post!
Have a FUNtastic time hopping and may you have a hoppy Easter!
🙂 Kris

Spring Has Sprung: Time to Nest?

Spring has Sprung! Well, we are missing a few signs of it in our cool Minnesota weather with temps of 7 degrees as we speak. There are hopes for weekend warming to rise into the 30’s!!

Yesterday I created this spring statement necklace with some really funky vintage beads posing as eggs nestled in with Momma bird hovering close by.

You are going to be so proud of me! I made the time to add a few listings to my etsy shop and the nest necklace is one of them! You can buy it here!

I created another “Believe in Yourself and Happiness Will Follow” necklace after a number if you wanted the one I posted a few weeks ago. And I listed it here!

I do have a few more that I need to create! Love that message because it is so true! You have to believe in you!

There is a giveaway for a sassy sisters pass to the Celebrate Creatives Retreat that I am teaching at in less than one month! Did you know that you could go for just one day? Enter the giveaway here!

Can I share a message I received the other day that really made my heart swell…

Kris, I wore your necklace the other day and I got so many compliments, I could have sold it three times in one day. Keep making your amazing designs!

How cool is that? It brings me so much joy to hear about the compliments you receive when you wear my art. Thank you!!

With a grateful heart, I hope you have an incredible spring day!
🙂 Kris

Thunder: Icing on the Cake

Another delightful day with the Rocori Thunder at volleyball. It is incredible to see the growth of this team… This is the second year Tom and Lori have coached this team.

Yesterday he received some incredible compliments from other coaches regarding their skill level at 12 years old… compliments about how he works with the team and how the girls respond to him. It is so much fun to see him coaching this group of girls… To see the joy of working together and his joy in helping them develop and improve.

I am grateful to my husband for this experience and so happy he gets to share his love of volleyball with his daughter.

The icing on the cake is that the girls took first in the Gold Division against very competitive teams.

The after party at the hotel was such a blast… Kids and parent relaxing, having fun and an abundance of laughter.

Today it is absolutely unreal the we have nothing on the calendar for the day! Amazing! We are off to enjoy a free day!

Have a FUNtastic day!
🙂 Kris

I stopped at 6 loads of laundry! I used all available hangers and all available space to drape damp laundry in our home!

It is quite humerous to walk into. You don’t really realize the volume of laundry you wash until you lay it all out!

I almost have everyone set, including myself. Whew!

I have my alarm set to wake at 1am, so I am hoping to get to bed prior to midnight! {lol}

Happy days!!
🙂 Kris

Hope you are enjoying the beautiful day and the festive holiday preparations!

Mother’s Bracelet~Kris Lanae Style

Hello my friends!

Sorry, I missed you yesterday! I was busy filling orders so everyone who ordered on my holiday blast email sale will receive their orders prior to Christmas. Can I tell you how grateful I am for your love of my jewelry, to each of you who shopped my open house and my email sale! It fills my heart when I get such incredible compliments from you!

I only have a few orders left to fill before Christmas. I am so excited about the Mothers’s bracelet I made (Kris Lanae style!) that I have to share a sneak peek! I can’t show the entire thing, or Mom will have her surprise ruined. It was a little hard to photograph, but I love it so much, I am going to be making myself one!

This is all I can show you right now, but it has four names. I hand stamped each name on dark metal bases, I then formed them to properly fit the curve of the wrist. I hand wired crystals matching the birthstone for each child. I am in love with it! I cannot wait to hear this surprised Mom’s thoughts on it after she opens it!

I hope you have an incredible day! 🙂

Grandmother, Daughter, Granddaughter Necklaces

I had the joy of creating the coolest necklace set this week inspired by a necklace posted on my blog a couple weeks ago.

A new client referred by a friend (Thank You Melissa!). They shared the coolest story about how they used to see each other only in the summer and how they were penpals as kids. As life happens, they lost touch. A few years ago they reconnected and have been best friends with so many similarities in their lives. It gave me chills as I heard their sweet story!

Melissa was on the phone with her friend and her friend asked what Melissa gave her Mother for Christmas. Melissa gave her friend a glowing referral of my jewelry and introduced us (I am still blushing!) and grateful!

After she browsed my blog and found the moon necklace which was very fitting. Since the original necklace was sold, we decided I would design a necklace for her Mother-in-Law and matching necklaces for her two sweet daughters.

They were so much fun to make!

The fun thing about the necklaces is that the charms are interchangeable, can be worn alone and work well layered.

After sharing initial photos, Mom decided that she should have her own set! What a great holiday gift idea! It is so much fun to be a part of a heartfelt family gift!!

I posted an invitation to my Holiday Open House on Facebook today. I created an event & I hope I didn’t miss anyone! We would love you to join us next Friday! Feel free to invite/bring your friends!

Have a FUNtastic day!
🙂 Kris

Christmas Arrives Early…

Here is the link to my Facebook page.

I looked a little like this yesterday! I felt like a little girl again trying on jewelry.

Here is a photo of my Facebook post yesterday… This arrival was so unexpected… It was such a joy to open the door and see a Creative Co-op box waiting for me.

As I opened each item, it was like unwrapping a gift. I started draping necklaces around my neck and bracelets on my wrists… It was so much fun!

I am so happy with the quality and how they turned out!

So happy!

Thank you Creative Co-op for the early Christmas!! You amaze me.

🙂 Kris

Creative Endurance Session

On Monday, starting at dawn through nightfall… I created jewelry, a little creative endurance session. It was so much fun! It was a bit like coloring outside of the lines as I experimented and played.

Here are some of my designs that sold yesterday to one of my favorite boutiques.

Can you see how much fun I had?

I had ordered a variety of new elements to play with…

Ahhhhhh… Doing what you love is such a gift! Speaking of gifts, many of you have asked if I am having a holiday open house again this year. I have decided to have a Holiday Open House on Friday, December 14th. More details to come! But I am excited to offer some of my original designs from both of my lines with Demdaco & Creative Co-op along with some of the items from my line. And of course my one of a kind originals. I hope you can join us!

Have an amazing day and a fantastic holiday!
🙂 Kris

Demdaco: More Jewelry By Kris Lanae

I have more of my line to show you from Demdaco/Silvestri today.

I am incredibly thankful and blessed by your comments, support and encouragement! The excitement to see my entire line at the Demdaco/Silvestri Showroom makes me feel like a little girl anticipating Christmas!

I have a little more time this morning and I wanted to share airless bit about my designs… The necklace above includes some gorgeous crystals, beautiful natural shells and some funky wire work. I designed the chain one link at a time with a wire wrapped crystal and funky wire work.

This necklace includes a variety of sparkly and natural elements that work so well with each other. Each element is carefully wire wrapped and united to create the bail of the necklace. The soft ribbon makes a beautiful necklace.

I am quite excited about this necklace, it is a staple for every wardrobe because it can be worn in different ways. It starts off as a long necklace with a few focal shells and crystals wrapped and the handmade chain embraces some gorgeous crystals. Easily detach the bracelet from the necklace and you have a new set… A shorter necklace that is a perfect complement to any outfit and a dynamic bracelet!

I enjoyed designing earrings for the line, shells make a perfect accent for earrings.

This bracelet might be one of my favorites of the line. They did an amazing job reproducing my original designs, I am so amazed!

In my next post I will share some of the non jewelry items. I hope you love them as much as I do.

Thanks for your amazing comments! Have a Fun-tastic day! Kris

Funky Floral Love

What a gorgeous fall day we had in Minnesota yesterday! As we travelled through our day celebrating the birth of my middle son Sawyer, I was able to create on the go.

Love the contrast of the shiny texture on the petals with the matt finish of the wire that cradles the flower. You can’t see it from the photo, but the flower is intentionally asymmetric in it’s placement.

This vintage brooch is dynamic on its own, but really needed to be nudged into the current era… I created a light and airy wire flower to support the brooch and celebrate it’s splendor.

This necklace was a work in progress for days… It took me some time to find the materials to complement this vintage happy brooch.

This vintage piece was screeching for some floral goodness to celebrate it’s sassy style.

The pendant pictured above is so much more vibrant in real life. The dynamic vintage element rests beautifully on the wire wreath and gives off a floral essence.

And I am off to create more Funky Floral Love that I will showcase later! Have an amazing day! Kris Lanae

Bountiful Connections at The Handmade Market: The Creative Connection

I am so excited about this event approaching… When Jo Packham and Nancy Soriano titled the event, The Creative Connection, they hit the nail on the head. The amazing connections that were developed in a few short days last year will impact the futures of all who attended.  WOMEN – PASSION – BUSINESS are the sub headings of the event. Connections made with amazing women who have an intense passion and business knowledge. The decision to display my jewelry at The Handmade Market is one the I will never regret.

I realize that the connection made at this event will impact my families future in amazing ways as we await the debut of my jewelry line with Demdaco/Silvestri in Cycle 4, 2011… The story still amazes me. I must say how honored I was by the glowing compliments of clients as they browsed through my jewelry. A group of three adorable women were in my booth trying on jewelry… One of them selected a necklace that was so fitting for her. She tried it on, decided to purchase it and I was drawn to take a photo of her. (I am not going to publish it because I did not ask for permission.) It is humbling to have people talk about your joy, your art with such excitement. One of the women commented, wouldn’t they be adorable holiday ornaments?? Now the statement, while a compliment did initiate some thoughts running through my mind.

I totally remember how humbled I was by their enthusiasm! The following day, my new friend was back to purchase another necklace! I cannot tell you what it feels like to have someone return for another purchase! At the time, I had no idea who these three lovely ladies were that were  wandering the Handmade Market… taking part in The Creative Connections Event.  About a week and a half after the event, I received an email from my new friend complimenting me on my jewelry and asking if I would consider a licensing agreement with Demdaco/Silvestri. I was floored!!

It is not  too late to attend The Creative Connection!

I will be displaying my jewelry at the MarketPlace. Friday September 16 from 1:30 to 9:30 pm and Saturday, September 17th from 10am to 6pm. The event will be held in St. Paul this year, click on the link for more info.

You never know who is shopping at the Market Place… last year Mary Jane Butters bought three of my necklaces as she was racing to her next event! It was such an amazing honor! Here is a photo of one of the necklaces! she purchased from me… wish I had a snapshot of her wearing it!

A few of my archive posts from the TCC are here, here and here.  I hope you can join us for fun shopping and many great connections this year! 🙂 Kris
