Giving Flight, Giving Back.

I am ecstatic to share with you this amazing blog hop we are having.

{I created this necklace with this theme in mind… The pendant is a wing, prepared for flight. The chain includes the key to fly, I hope you soar!}

Giving Flight, Giving Back.

We are celebrating our one year anniversary. This group of incredible, giving, creative women have connected like fly sisters. We all signed up to take Kelly Rae Robert’s Flying Lessons Ecourse last summer. We became fast friends… My friend Linda, suggested that we do something to celebrate our anniversary. To celebrate becoming, possibilitarians, fly sisters, creative, connected, supportive, caring and most of all GIVING.

We are delighted to share that the group of women decided to show our gratitude by contributing to donate money for a giveaway… We intended on collecting enough money to give away a free spot in Kelly’s Flying Lesson’s ecourse. Kelly offered to match our donations dollar for dollar!

We had no idea that we would collect an amazing, incredible, dynamic amount of money (enough for 8 spots in the giveaway), and with the matching goodness of Kelly Rae, we are thrilled to announce that we are giving away 16 spots in her Flying Lesson’s Course! Isn’t that AMAZING???

Follow Your Dreams

So if you are starting a creative business, own a creative business and need a little nudge to take flight, this is the course for you! Believe in You and spread your wings!

You can find out more about the course on Kelly Rae’s site here.

We are doing a blog hop to celebrate our anniversary and announce the giveaway. You can only enter the giveaway in one location, and this site will be live tonight at midnight, central!
Believe in you and click here to enter the giveaway!

Flying Lessons was such a terrific asset to my business, despite the fact that I have a strong business background, there were certain areas that I needed to finesse… especially my social presence: I had a blog already, but I started consistently blogging and I now blog almost daily. I created a facebook page, I signed up for twitter. I cleaned up my etsy site (although I am not a very good etsy lister, I sell more jewelry through my blog and my occasional Private Virtual Sale emails (send me an email if you would like to be added to my list: cherishdesigns@live.com) and I have had a lot of fun on Pinterest.

My business has really taken off in the past year, I am so filled with gratitude. I have enjoyed selling wholesale to a great group of boutiques locally. In January I had a line of jewelry launch with Demdaco, and in June my jewelry line launched with Creative Co-op (both companies are nationwide and sell wholesale to the gift industry.)

I love to find out that you have spotted my jewelry in a retail store, so feel free to send me an email or let me know on my facebook page! It is such an amazing thrill!

GIVING BACK is important to me. Over the years, I have received so many gifts and I am a true believer in paying it forward. My jewelry has been such a great tool for giving back. I love to offer random giveaways occasionally to my readers, I donate my jewelry to special causes that touch my heart… I have friends who are doing amazing things in Haiti, you can find out about it here. I have donated to local silent auctions to raise money for schools, boys choir and hockey fundraisers. It always feels so good to give. This giveaway feels amazing, because it is less about the actual gift, but more about the amazing opportunity that is being given! I am so thankful to be a part of this giveaway!

I encourage you to hop along on our blog hop, leave some comment love for them because each one of these amazing peeps donated money to help deserving people become possibilitarians too! In fact, you may have so much fun hopping when you see the beautiful art they create, that you are going to like their facebook pages, subscribe to their blogs and become lifetime fans! The blog hop officially starts at midnight tonight.

Remember, if you know someone who might benefit from Flying lessons, we hope you recommend the giveaway!

I would like to introduce you to my flysisters:

GIVEAWAY & The 6th Annual Bead Soup Blog Party: 2nd Reveal

I am so very excited about today’s 6th Annual Bead Soup Blog Hop: 2nd Reveal!

It is my first time participating and I was paired up with an amazing partner. My partner, Pam Hurst of Pam Hurst Designs, Life Inspired Artisan Jewelry.

Pam sent me an amazing serving of soup!

Pam made the beautiful double-sided main focal out of fine silver. The clasp and other silver beads are bali sterling. All the orange beads are various forms of carnelian, the blue is amazonite, the gray rondelles are labradorite, and the round faceted beads are agate.

A beautiful assortment of soup.

I started with the main focal (which was beautiful on its own). I created a complementary pendant out of wire and wired the focal so it dangles, glistening at the bottom of the pendant. I then added a teeny wired flower on the back side of the focal so the necklace is reversible.

It was time to create the chain to hang the pendant on. It needed to make a statement. I took the two Bali Silver beads and a vintage rhinestone element (because it just wouldn’t feel right without some vintage love) and created a handmade chain.

I then attached a double strand of my custom matte black chain on either side of the beautiful clasp to complete the necklace.

For my next design, I used the faceted agates and one of the blue amazonite beads. I created some funky chunky swirls in a pendant with my fav funky chunky chain.

Sadly, they were the only beads that would fit my 19 gauge wire. (something I should have thought of in advance.)

I did experiment with a bracelet with some of the beautiful carnelian beads and 28 gauge wire wrapped in 19 gauge wire. I love the chunkiness of the carnelian!

Despite my challenges, I am happy with how the bracelet turned out, especially the layering of the chains.

Thank you Pam for a marvelous assortment of soup! Please check out Pam’s reveal with the goodies I sent her! I am so excited to see her work!

I would like to thank my friend Lori Anderson, our host for the hop and author of a new book about The Bead Soup Blog Hop to be released in October! She spends hours and hours making certain that the blog hop runs smoothly!

And before you continue hopping, I would like to invite you to check out the GIVEAWAY that I have going on right now for our Live! Love! JUNK! Retreat! All you need to do us comment on the GIVEAWAY BLOG POST to enter to win. Share the info for more chances to win! (Sorry, Giveaway is over.)

Cherish Designs by Kris Lanae: Nina Designs Blog Partner

A few weeks ago, I received some awesomeness from Nina Designs as a part of their blog partnership.

I remember discovering Nina Designs at the Bead and Button Show a few years ago… I spent a lot of time in their booth selecting my purchases. It was before I had a blog and unfortunately do not have pics of my loot… But you must know how excited I was to be invited to be a new blog partner.

I eagerly anticipated the arrival of the package. It was so much fun to open and discover the delectable finds. Here is a photo of the beautiful goodness that arrived. Photos do not show the intricate work and refined finish of the goodies.

Most of you know that I am a wire artist that loves to incorporate vintage finds in my work. It was important for me to incorporate my authentic design with the beautiful elements from Nina Designs.

The first piece I created with was the Bronze Small Leaf Tumble Marquis Pendant. I found a gorgeous small rhinestone vintage element and wired it to the bottom of the center leaf on the pendant. I found bronze crystals and hand wired them in a link chain along with the Bronze Extra Small Circle Link. The Satin Silk Olive Ribbon finished the necklace off beautifully.

A close up of the Bronze Extra Small Circle Link, so delicate!

The twist is that I created this to work as either a necklace or a bracelet. Here you see a photo of the bracelet over a vintage bottle… I love versatility!

I gravitated to the sweet Bronze Lotus Blossom Charms… so delicate. I knew they had to be earrings. They were screaming to be earrings. I created teardrops of wire as a frame for the Lotus Blossoms and attached them to the Bronze Small Lotus Petal Earrings. I wish you could see the sweet charms dangle and catch the light.

I’m loving the Bronze Small Lotus Petal Earrings and was wishing that I had multiple pairs… when I realized, I didn’t need multiple pairs. One of my favorite features of the earring is that they are also versatile… wear them alone as a hoop or create multiple looks with the same earring. That is what I did here. I simply used the base earring multiple times.

The next look I created using the Bronze Three Teardrop Link. It is a beautiful series of teardrops… The third teardrop offered a fantastic place to add a pop of color in a small crystal. It easily slides onto the petal earring for a new look using the same earring finding.

I also made a simple drop charm with a crystal and the matching Bronze headpins, but I forgot to take a photo for you.

The final earrings I created was with the Bronze Hook Earring with Hammer Finish. I combined the earring finding, the extra small circle link and some matt black chain and crystals matching the necklace/bracelet combo. They were quick and easy to make.

I enjoy creating with Nina Designs elements. They are a fantastic quality and fun to incorporate.

A few things before I say goodbye.
