Pure Brassy Happiness!

How is your day? Today I am feeling brassy!

I have been playing with brass… It has a sassy look.

I found this key this summer and fell in love, love, love!

It pairs perfectly with the delicate brassy link chain I found.

And how about this pair for a perfectly layered duo?

Aren’t they cute together? Pure Brassy Happiness!

I hope you have a happy brassy day!

Creating Keepsakes

It was a joy to create a very special custom order for a close friend of mine.

This order was for matching necklaces for her and her dear friend from college days. They have been through so much together, so I knew it needed to be special. I got to create with some fabulous vintage rhinestone buttons that she inherited from her Godmother. The necklaces were to match, but one was slightly more delicate.

For me, the pressure to create a perfect design adds to the challenge… It is so rewarding to get the feedback that “SHE LOVED IT!” Yipeeeee! That means I can breathe a sigh of relief.

It is an honor to be asked to create a keepsake for such a dear friend! So grateful!

ūüôā Happy Sunday!
Have an amazing day!

Sunshiny Saturday

Happy Sunshiny Saturday.

It is hard to believe that another week has passed in a blink of an eye. Just a few more weeks until school is out for the summer.

I am so excited about being home with my kids this summer. I know it promises to be busy, but it will be fun too.

Today in Minnesota is a sunshiny Saturday. We have very few obligations today which is unusual. I have a lot of jewelry to make, but it promises to be a joyful day.

I hope you are enjoying your sunshiny Saturday!

Joyful Days: Giving So It Feels Good!

What a great couple of days for swimming! Sawyer has been steadily improving his diving skills and got to dive Varsity Thursday night, pretty fun for a seventh grader.

He finally nailed his inward dive and I must say his reaction was priceless as he saw the scores from the judges… His highest score ever… crazy that he would get it on his most challenging dive.

He took 4th overall and broke one hundred points with a score of 100.3.

I really have enjoyed this sport as they are so great at cheering each other on and applauding the winners as well as the last swimmer in every heat. Love that!!

I have not had much time creating the past few days…

Yesterday we started working on a fundraiser for Tom’s brother John who was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in the fall. He is very brave in his battle… He just received his Doctorate Degree in Psychology a few days before getting his diagnosis. Sadly he is uninsured and along with fighting for his life, he has a major financial battle ahead of him. His family and friends are pulling together to host a fundraiser for them and I will be coordinating the silent auction. Let me know if you know of anyone who would like to donate.

As we were planning yesterday, we started talking about what each person would do in our group… Not everyone is comfortable in every role. I responded that we want people to Give so it feels good, not until it hurts. This is something I have been trying to teach my children. Giving should make you feel great! We want everyone to feel Good about helping, but not to be in a role that they are uncomfortable.

We are off and running to hockey today. I hope your day is filled with joy!

Wrapping it Up… I’m a Bag Lady This Year!

I love the hustle and bustle of the holidays… for some reason the holiday prep time passed even more quickly than usual… I keep joking with my friends who know me very well, I guess I should probably start Christmas Shopping now! Some of them look at me to see if I am really serious (because in all reality, it would not shock them! LOL)

Actually there have been years where I have started this late!! Thankfully not this year!

Actually, I am in better shape that I have been in a long time, however there are only a couple of days before Christmas, so I do have an overwhelming amount of wrapping to do. My kids are a fantastic help, but I have decided to be a bag lady! I bought a ton of krafty¬†bags with some cute holiday vintage looking¬†ornaments, ribbon and tissue and I will be lovingly plopping them in bags this year! I will be shaving hours off my wrapping time! Yahooo! and most of those hours would be during the wee hours of the morning while my kidlets¬†are asleep, so more zzz’s for me!

So I now proclaim… I am a bag lady and I am proud of it!

Hope you have fun wrappin’ it all up!!! Don’t be afraid to join the bag lady bandwagon!!! Kris

Where O’ Where Have I Been???

The last few days have spiralled away so quickly.¬† Tomorrow is the big day. I am starting to feel light-headed because I can’t seem to breathe deeply.¬† I can’t wait to tell you about it tomorrow. Last night I drafted a post telling you all about it. I am going to be gone all day tomorrow Holiday Shopping, so I thought I would draft a post telling you about my exciting news and then as soon as I find out the results, I can share it with you remotely! I LOVE technology!

So in the meantime, where O where have I been…

For the past two nights, I ¬†inventoried, labeled, priced and described my¬†jewelry on a spread sheet so Tom can deliver my inventory to the ‘Tis The Season Upscale Boutique in Chaska, MN.¬† (He is amazing, isn’t he?) The details are:

‘Tis The Season Holiday Boutique is open the first two weekends of December:¬†
Friday, December 3rd 5pm – 8pm
Saturday, December 4th 9am – 5pm
Sunday, December 5th 11am – 5pm
Saturday, December 11th 9am – 5pm
Sunday, December 12th 11am – 5pm

We are conveniently located in Chaska at the Chaska Town Course
off of 212 and CR 41/Chestnut Blvd:
3000 Town Course Drive
Chaska, MN 55318
Here is a little Eye Candy!

This is a copper pendant that I created and etched myself. It was a lot of fun, but kind of piddly work for my taste… It was something I wanted to learn for a long time and now that I know, I think I will leave it up to the experts!

My Secret is Happiness necklace pictured above. I love the copper effect on the funky flower… I am in love with blues and coppers. Have you noticed that?

What??? More copper – N- Blue??? I know, huge surprise, right.

Well, make sure you check back tomorrow! Looking forward to spilling the beans!

Have an amazing day!

A Sneak Peek… crossing my fingers and toes

This is the week I have been waiting for since September. I am nervous, excited and filled with¬†anticipation and a little dread.¬† My fingers and toes are crossed. I am sitting on pins and needles.¬† I am so honored by the request and giddy by the potential. If Christmas comes early, you will hear me screaming from the mountaintops (& we don’t even have mountains!) I will post right away and share the news with you. I should know by Friday.

I am going to show you a sneak peek of my submissions by request…

¬†Sorry they are close-ups…¬†

I know, you can’t see really what they are.

I am sorry about that.

Truly I am.

You will understand soon enough.

Sorry to tease you, I just can’t stop thinking about it!

I had to write about it.

 This could be big.

Really Big…

But it could be just an extremely honorable moment in my life… Either way, I can’t wait to tell you about it!

Is it intriguing to you?

I hope you like peeks…

The next one looks kind of vicious!

It kind of¬† looks like a claw… but it’s not, I promise!

I can show you a picture of my little chickie helper this weekend at the Firefleyes Holiday Marketplace.

(she’s a tad blurry! sorry ’bout that!)

She really liked the hat, but she chose an adorable headband instead.

She had an offer to buy the necklace that I made for her that she is wearing.

She debated most of the day.

It was a bit painful for her.

In the end, she just couldn’t let it go.

I am proud that she thought about the decision so carefully!

And here she is getting ready for hockey… Pretty tough lookin’ chicklet. They won their first game too! 10-0, it was so exciting. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for the sweet little goalie, she was shorter than the net, but she sure handled it well!

Her friend Carlie brought the tough girl face paint. So cute!

I am getting ready to deliver my inventory to the ‘Tis the Season Upscale Boutique in Chaska… The sale is a two weekend sale, I am only working¬†the boutique¬†on Sunday of the final date. Such a fun concept! We have a hockey tournament this weekend and more running the following weekend, so it is great to participate in a boutique that you don’t have to be there for the whole two weekends! Hope you can stop and shop!

Have a great week. I hope it goes quickly! Can’t wait to fill you in and to know what the future holds! ūüôā Kris

Holiday Market at the Pillar Inn

This piece is centered around the amazing floral vintage element, I added vintage lace, vintage button old beautifully worn vintage beads, wired it to secure it and added the funky chunky chain.

Tonight we are setting up for the Holiday Market at The Pillar Inn Bed & Breakfast. This is a beautiful Victorian home that is fully decorated for the holidays. It is a beautiful place to spend time. We hope you can join us Thursday, November 18th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. We have a great little market including complimentary wine and appetizers.

I am having my buy two, get one free sale… and a clearance section.

This piece¬†is created from a stunning vintage brooch (I splurged for it). I loved the fact that it is black crystals. It might be a new fav… swaddled in wire and finished with a unique chain with toggle closure.

I will be stopping by Marishka’s¬†Shoppe in St. Cloud to add more inventory for the St. Cloud Art Crawl happening Friday, November 19th from 5-9 pm…

This swirly inspiration is featured on a 36″ chain… I loved the unusual black drawer handle and had to find an element that would tie all of the pieces together. I wrapped the wire around the base of the flower and made a loop of wire to dangle the elements from. It is a great addition to your cozy winter wardrobe.

The Pillar Inn, decorated in full glory!

Don’t forget about my blog giveaway! Find out more HERE!

May your day be filled with sunshine!

Omaha was OAH-MA-ZING!

More photos from Silver Bella… wish I had taken more that I could show! and more of the vendors… there were so many amazing vendors!

I do have some lovely photos from some very fun Bella’s with¬†my handmade crowns on… really the Queen Bella’s¬†– I was thinking of posting… please email me if you mind, otherwise I think I will post them later in the week. You were all so adorable! Please email me if you would prefer that I don’t post your photo!

We enjoyed shopping and eating in Omaha! Terrific stores and what a beautiful city!

Love the cobblestone streets, warehouse buildings and fun shops…

and the adorable courtyard… not far from where we had some terrific Mexican food.

We had so many giggles… our husbands forgot to tell us the order that the puzzle of our display went into the trailer… Dear Bellman, we are so thankful we could provide you with a half an hour of pure humor as you watched us load, remove and re-load our beautiful (and frustrating) display.

Dear Sweet, Kind Gentleman who was driving the opposite direction from us… We are thankful you stopped to help us when our top of our trailer decided to pop up (similar to pop goes the weasel). It was so sweet of you to stand in the bitter wind, snow¬†and cold while one at a time my sister and friend deserted me for the warm vehicle (it was truly fine, I was the only one with a warm winter coat!)¬† It was also sweet of you to follow us for at least 10 miles before you turned around and went back on the freeway the opposite direction. It was then that we realized that you were not even going our direction. What a sweet man you are! We are hoping that we can figure out who you were by the license plate… our brains were too frozen to ask you for your contact information! We are so thankful for you!

Thank you to my dear sister who drove so I could create the whole time and to sweet Tracy who rode in the back so I didn’t get carsick! You guys are the best… wonder where our next adventure will lead us?

Hope your day is happy! Kris

Silver Bella Preparation…

I feel like this necklace really exudes Silver Bella… It’s Very Grande… It made the sparkle all by itself too!

Wish you could see it in person… the crystals wired around the exterior add¬†a touch of magnificent bling.¬†

And I have the best husband in the world, he has been making the bases of the bracelets for me… he took a pic and sent it to me to ask me how they were looking. He is truly the best! The will look similar to this when they are complete!

Looking forward to Silver Bella… and thankful for my friends who are taking care of my booth in the Dollars For Scholars Women’s Expo in Cold Spring on the same night!

A Spoonful of Sugar…

I am not sure why this song popped into my head today… But it is S-T-U-C-K!

It is not a medicine spoon, it is a Birth Record Spoon… It is sooooooo coool, the patina is amazing.

I would love to have one for each of my three children… This one is for Jesse. I can’t read the details. Generally I will bend a spoon, add wire and crystals to add to a necklace, but this one needed to be left as is… Such a great look. ($69)

But for some reason it triggers this song from Mary Poppins:

Mary Poppins:
In ev’ry job that must be done
There is an element of fun
You find the fun and snap!
The job’s a game

And ev’ry task you undertake
Becomes a piece of cake
A lark! A spree! It’s very clear to see that

A Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
The medicine go down-wown
The medicine go down
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In a most delightful way

A robin feathering his nest
Has very little time to rest
While gathering his bits of twine and twig
Though quite intent in his pursuit
He has a merry tune to toot
He knows a song will move the job along – for

A Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
The medicine go down-wown
The medicine go down
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In a most delightful way

The honey bee that fetch the nectar
From the flowers to the comb
Never tire of ever buzzing to and fro
Because they take a little nip
From ev’ry flower that they sip
And hence (And hence),
They find (They find)
Their task is not a grind.

Ah-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h ah!

A Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
The medicine go down-wown
The medicine go down
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In a most delightful way

I especially love the down-wown! So much fun to say… down-wown!

I forgot to share Kya’s pumpkin, she took a pic of it for me to share.

I am ALL FOR a Happy – non-scary pumpkin!

Have a delightful day, try a spoonful of sugar and repeat after me (three times fast)… down-wown, down-wown, down-wown!

ūüôā Kris

November Mornings…

Don’tcha just want to snuggle up for an extra hour or two on mornings like this?

Shut the alarm off

Ignore the school buses

Ignore the deadlines

Forget the garbage man

unplug the phone

and sleeeeeeeeeeeeepp!

I didn’t, I dragged myself out of bed… I even showered so as not to offend any of my co-workers! I know, right?

                             It is a

                                                                  fall day.

¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† I am glad I didn’t miss it!

I made this pendant at the craft show I was at the other day… It has some really fun elements. Vintage lace, bling, grunge, buttons, vintage pearls, and a beautiful carved rose.

And here is part of my display from the show.

You might recognize one of the elements from the top pendant from this post. The photo from my original post is terrible, but it is one of the first things I have made from this collection of items. I will highlight the items with closeups soon!

I hope you enjoy the beautiful fall day.

Holy Moly It’s Windy Out There!

Wow, the last 24 hours are a bit of a blur, so much for having a good hair day, the wind is trying to create its own design!

Well, Mr. Dr. did not quite cooperate with me… 2 more weeks in this contraption… And one of my friends ratted¬†me out! He said that he had just talked to someone I know and they said that this splint didn’t slow me down at all. That I just fitted my tool in between the sling and my fingers and kept working away! Well it might be true, but did he really have to know that?Ha Ha! BTW, he never said I couldn’t¬†make jewelry… why do I feel¬†like a kid with my hand caught in¬†the cookie¬†jar?¬†(To my friend, I love you anyway, but I do know who you are and where you live! Bahahahahaaaaa¬†ūüôā ¬†)

My hubby is happy to put yesterday behind him… He had quite an eventful day yesterday. He drove from Cold Spring, MN to Thief River Falls, MN for a HUD Home Inspections (he is a Realtor/Broker) and encountered a blizzard with traffic driving between 20 and 30 mph on the way home last night. He said the wind was so strong that it would gust and push his vehicle sideways across the highway. He finally got to the interstate where the traffic was moving more quickly. About 45 minutes from home at 10pm he called. I was dozing off and I woke up and asked immediately if he was okay… He was fine but he was standing out in the 60 mph winds watching his truck on fire. Thankfully is was so cold and windy that the wind put the fire out. I called friends and was going to pack up the kids to bring them to a friends house and go get Tom, when “our friend, our hero Tom Hanson ” was out and about turned around and went to rescue him! Thank You Tom Hanson!

By then Tom had called 911, they dispatched a tow truck. I called to check on him and he told me he was going to get back into the truck! I asked him, what if it explodes??? He was sure it was fine though. The next thing he sees is a Fire Truck & and Ambulance pull up. (Truly, my hats off to the highway patrol and rescue people who keep us safe and respond to us in need. It must be a miserable job in severe weather.)

The firemen talk to¬†Tom, agree with him that the fire was out and¬†that he was safe to stay in the¬†vehicle.¬†They go back into the fire truck and just stay behind him… Pretty soon 4 highway patrol pull up and tell Tom that they had a report of a gun! (seriously, this is my husband’s luck… it would be hilarious if you didn’t have to live through it!) So they frisk Tom, search the vehicle, didn’t find anything, of course! Tom just said “do what you need to do!” It turns out that Tom had a flashlight sticking out of his briefcase. It has a black handle with a trigger style button to turn it on! They cleared him and the tow truck towed him back to a service center. He meets our hero who had his own visit from the police asking what he was doing sitting at a car dealership in the middle of the night!¬† As they are on their way back home, he discovers that he lost his phone in the tow truck! My poor sweet husband. So waiting to hear if his Excursion has any possibility¬†of¬†repair!

So this Vintage Expression of Love¬†features a beautiful rhinestone element¬†in a funky diamondy¬†pear shape (love makin’ up my own words!) It includes a plethora of vintage beads, a vintage button and crystal. It is whimsically wired and hangs on the funky chunky antiqued copper color 18″ chain ($89). Featured on the mannequin are two necklaces, the top one Whimsical Rose Pendant¬†is whimsically wired and features a turquoise color rose focal piece with wire wrapped around it and a funky little rolled wire effect at the top. This pendant hangs on the grungy gray funky chunky chain in 18″ length ($69) and the Fabulous Faith necklace with the blue turquoise elegant cross wired with a chunky turquoise crystal on the funky chunky chain in 24″ length¬†makes a great statement every time ($55).

Well, hope you are having a better hair day than I am! Batten down the hatches and have a great one! Kris
