Good Morning Rain

Good Morning raindrops…
On my windshield…
You were up early!

I see your beauty falling around me!

I dropped Sawyer off at swimming at 6:30 this morning and you just started sprinkling!

I received a delivery yesterday! It was kind of like Christmas because I didn’t recall ordering anything! Kya carried the box in and it wasn’t much smaller than she was! I realized with excitement that it was my replacement Khombu boots! Last year I bought the most amazing pair of boots. Adorable & dressy, yet warm and comfy! Perfect for a hockey Mom like me. After wearing them for a couple of months, they seemed to have a defect. I looked at them with sadness for a few weeks… I finally contacted the manufacturer… I never do that! Can you believe this amazing company stood behind their products? They did not have the same style, but a few months ago I got to select a new style… And they arrived just in time for the first hockey tournament in a few weeks!

They are Khombu Saturn boots … Waterproof, stylish & cozy! I love that this company stands behind their products! You just made a lifelong customer!

News from the travelers is that they were a little bummed that due to high winds, they could not take the fast ferry across lake Michigan today…

It sounds like they are having a blast with Grandma & Grandpa!

And finally, a necklace I created using some new vintage elements (would that be an oxymoron? πŸ™‚

Have a funtastic day! πŸ™‚ Kris

Today is the Day…

Today I woke up with sweet anticipation for the exciting journey my son Keegan will be taking with his Grandparents & his cousin.

Here he is this morning, thrilled that I took his picture. πŸ™‚ (okay, not so thrilled!)

They depart today on a 9 day cross country trip to a NASCAR race in Martinsville, Virginia… The trip of a lifetime for a couple of thirteen year old boys! What awesome grandparents! I am so excited for them to make awesome memories!

Yesterday, my kids were burning a little energy, I had to capture their photos…

My kids love the trampoline…

Sadly, there is not much time left before they will be jumping in the snow.

I captured a photo of my Chickie doing homework last night… Before school started this year, Tom and our kids reorganized our loft into 3 work spaces. It has worked so well for homework!

They each have their own space, no fighting over counter space and it really has helped to keep them organized and less distracted.

If they don’t do a good job in the loft, then they get booted to the time out spot…

πŸ™‚ lol… We have joked for years that this is the timeout spot for our kids… We haven’t had to put anyone up there yet! πŸ™‚

And a necklace I made last night using a turquoise rose I have been treasuring for quite some time. I don’t think it is vintage, and I don’t recall where I found it, bitty I love the look of it!

I hope you have an amazing day… Kris πŸ™‚

Peace & Awe

Rewind to yesterday… I’m sitting on our couch in our living room on a Friday morning… One of my favorite times of the day on one of my favorite days of the week.

I’m sitting in the dark drinking my morning coffee.

Putter our kitty is purring in my lap as the sun starts to rise…

I watch in peace and awe as the dark night turns into glorious day! One of my favorite moments to enjoy… The anticipation of a new day.

I grew up in a dog family and love dogs… However with our hectic life, it seemed unfair to bring a dog into our family and leave it frequently… Enter Putter, our new sweet kitty and hilarious member of our family. Putter is our first cat and I cannot tell you how much we enjoy him! (it is hard to leave our sweet putter too, but everyone assures us that cats do fine when you leave them for short periods.)

I am soooooo thankful my kids have him to cuddle when they need a little extra lovin! He has a funny new addiction of drinking water out of the bathroom sink! It’s hilarious to watch as his cute little tongue quickly laps up the drizzling water… Not a great photo, but cute.

Today I was fortunate enough to meet with the Amazing team at Demdaco/Silvestri… It is so exciting as the first line of products launch and will be highlighted to their sales staff in November. I got to touch and feel the samples of the earrings in my line and I truly cannot tell you how amazingly well they duplicated my work, right down to the quality of the wire and the beautifully tucked ends of the wire. I am so anxious to share the line with you!

I am incredibly happy to be working on some new concepts boards for the 2013 line! I feel giddy with excitement as I nudge myself into new creative territories with the encouragement of my friends at Silvestri/Demdaco.

Since I had to be in the Twin Cities two back to back days, we shopped Priceline and got a fantastic rate on one of the nicest rooms (suites) my kids have ever stayed in(in their words! Lol)! In fact Kya informed me that she could live here!

Tom & the kids picked me up after my meeting with Demdaco and we ventured off to the Mall of America to shop for winter jackets.

Peeking over the railing at the rotunda…

Riding down the escalator…

And three kids collapsed on one chair, I just missed the best shot of Ky sprawled with her head draped over the back of the chair… It showed without words how exhausting shopping is!

Thankfully they had enough energy remaining to swim in the pool! And we were all cuddled up in our beds by 9:00 pm. Here is a shot out of our window, the lights are gorgeous, but I can’t seem to capture the beauty.

I had some fun creating time enroute & at the pool, will share more photos soon!

Of course I can’t leave you without a shot of a necklace… I fell in love with the vibrant beads that pick up so many colors and had fun wiring them into a dynamic pendant!

And as I recap our fun filled day, I continue to be filled with gratitude by the Peace and Awe of this day.

May your day be filled with peace & awe! πŸ™‚ Kris

Worn & Refinished

The sunset the other night was breathtaking out our living room window. Some of the trees have shed their leaves and the scape is starting to look like fall.

The cloud cover was spectacular…

My toes get sad in the winter unless they are protected… I bought a new pair of boots at Nordstrom Rack last weekend… Cozy comfy boots for an amazing price… They are Steve Madden’s. Check the tag out… I didn’t read it until I got home.

Are my boots worn & refinished?
Here are my boots…

They are real leather, soft, cozy and exactly what I was looking for to keep my toesies rosy! I did a little research & it looks like NR sells worn & refinished boots from designers. Was it worth paying $59 for $169 boots? Absolutely! I cannot tell by close inspection, and (I confess) smell that they have been worn!

I have another point & clicker in the family! Proud of my chickie for randomly using my phone to take photos… Sure wish I had another camera on board to capture how preciously she evaluated her shots…

Well I guess she did a little of that for me.

20111021-031132.jpg She captured the beautiful sun as it started on its path toward dusk…

She captured the gorgeous blue of the sky.

And the sunset through the trees.
So proud!

And remember the dimple pearls from my treasure trove? I made a simple necklace with them.

Hope you have an amazing weekend! πŸ™‚ kris

Joyful Jam Packed Weekend

I wanted to show you a glimpse of my past few days…

This photo was taken this morning on my way to a flea market… Do you see the helicopter? Do you see the man hanging from the helicopter? They are building power lines and use a helicopter and a dangling man to set off dynamite during the process… Quite interesting!

On Friday I had the joyful opportunity to connect with Jennifer Swift (http://blog.birdfromawire.com). We met for coffee and enjoyed connecting over our mutual love for wire.

We went shopping together in Buffalo… Here is a glimpse…

Joyful vignette.

Love the silhouette… More joy.

These chairs are screaming for someone to take them home! Love!

Had so much fun browsing…

Love this gate!!!

I shared this message with my kids! Lol

After going our seperate ways, I made one more stop near home…

Joy! Joy! Joy!

This morning I drove to a flea market… And I found these fun elements…

Funky brooches…

A treasure trove of vintage buttons…

Fabulous dimpled pearls…

A close up of skeleton keys!!

And a peek at this brilliant pink sparkly vintage brooch I repurposed into a new funky necklace.

And another new cuff I created…

And we enjoyed an amazing production of Boys on Broadway, our son Sawyer had a solo… I will share a link to that soon! Share some great moments with family and a last volleyball game, hockey running… A jam packed weekend!

Overall it was a very productive, fun and happy weekend! I hope yours was too! πŸ™‚ Kris

Diva Craft Lounge Interview

I hesitate to share this with you…
This is a link to the interview with Danielle Forsgren from Diva Craft Lounge. She is an amazing interviewer and her show is viewed in 118 countries.

I have to tell you that I was honored by her excitement for my jewelry and my work. She kept coming back to visit with me and she sent numerous people to my booth after sporting a necklace that she purchased from me. She even told a publisher that I should write a book for them!

In her words, I am The Next Big Thing! How can you not be amazed by someone like Danielle Forsgren being so excited for you!

The reason that I hesitate to share it is because, quite honestly I look heavier than I feel! My good friend Janet shared that I look 20 pounds heavier in the interview than I do in person (Thanks Janet, you are so kind!). It is also hard to watch yourself on video, so I am a little self conscious! Good Inspiration to make better choices! No More spiced caramel apple beverages at my favorite coffee shop!

So I hope you have some time to watch this episode of Diva Craft Lounge!

Thanks Girls of the Diva Craft Lounge, you are amazing! πŸ™‚ Kris

Joyful Sunsets and Sunrises

Ahhhhhh, sometimes Mondays are the most challenging days for me. This Monday was true to form! I slept through my alarms (both of them!), woke up with an extremely sore jaw, must have had a bad dream and clenched it all night! Lol and had a few other mishaps before I was able to redirect my day into a positive momentum!

The weekend held some very happy creating time!

Creating always brings me to a happy place.

So do sunrises and sunsets…

The amazing site of the glorious sunrise!

The incredible view of the sunset after dropping the girls off at hockey. I especially love the reflection on the hood of my truck!

And more sunrises…
Remember, don’t just look forward, remember to look backward too! Otherwise you are missing out on half of the beauty!

May you have the opportunity to enjoy the joy that the sunrise and sunset can bring to your day! πŸ™‚ Kris

Haste Makes Waste

Growing up, my Grandparents owned a hardware store and as children we were fascinated with spending time there. I must say, we learned many lessons about life from my Grandfather, even though at the time we had no idea!

This is going to date me, but one of the highlights was going to the five and dime! And things actually were five and ten cents!

I often remember my grandfather saying, “Haste Makes Waste” (I am not sure if he just said it often to me because I ran everywhere I went, or if it was a common quote he used…) But last night, that message resonated with me. I agree whole heartedly.

Let me tell you what happened… I was bidding on eBay on some vintage jewelry and I really wanted this small lot of earrings. I generally wait until there are only a few minutes left when I place my bid. The item was under $12, and I bid up to $15.50. Apparently I was not the only one who really wanted the vintage earrings because with 23 seconds left I was outbid. I hastily typed in $19.23 and confirmed my bid, thinking I am going to lose the earrings. 23 seconds passes quickly while you are trying to place a bid! Check out my photo!!!

OH MY FLIPPING GOODNESS, did you see what I typed??? Check out my Maximum Bid!!! I cannot tell you how thankful I am that eBay uses the current system of stepping up the bids rather than using the actual bid! Can you believe I forgot the decimal point??? And boy am I thankful that the person did not really want the earrings that badly! Did you notice that I would not have won them with the bid I intended on typing! Lol

This is a fantastic lesson for me, because it is true, haste does make waste… Thanks Grandpa!

Yesterday we enjoyed watching my daughter’s volleyball tournament.

Bought a new hockey helmet for my son. Here he is adjusting it… He loves when I take pics of him (or not) πŸ™‚

Made steak, fettuccine alfredo and a salad. (Remembered another lesson originally taught by my Mom…you get what you pay for!) did you know that $2 steaks taste like $2 steaks… Even if they are filet! πŸ™‚ Hee hee!

And I enjoyed creating…

Feeling thankful today that I did not spend $2000 on some earrings! Whew! I hope your day is filled with lessons that are not as painful as they could be!!! Have a wonderful day! Kris

Happy Days With Friends

I am honored

To have my jewelry in the March 2012 Bead Trends Magazine. πŸ™‚

Yesterday we celebrated our friend’s birthday by shopping the occasional sales in Buffalo…

Some great lighting…

So much to look at…

Eye candy…

We laughed until we cried…

Time after time…

We giggled like school girls…

Loved the flowers created from old maps…

A very artistic arrangement of vintage lucite on old vintage frames…

Fall colors served up in a beautiful pallette…

And one of my favorite unexpected looks… A fall carpet of leaves…

Trampled by happy shoppers… A fantastic fall day of friends… Fun.. And fulfillment.

I am especially happy that I finished the custom Crown for my friend Heidi!

Good Morning Sunshine!

Good Morning Sunshine, peeking over my shoulder…

You can come out and share your joy with us. There is something about you that lifts our spirits and brings us happiness. Do you realize the positive impact you have?

People smile more because of you, they yield to others and wait more patiently. Thank you for spreading your joy today!

The day is so amazing today and I really needed a day like today to create balance in my soul. Yesterday was the beginning of a winter journey we call H O C K E Y!

Hockey has been an amazing sport for our family, some of our closest friendships have developed through hockey. There is no denying the time commitment involved and constant running required to be a hockey parent. The benefits do outweigh the challenges, I think I needed to remind myself of that this morning as we delve into week one! Thank goodness for carpools!

A benefit is the creating time sitting in the arena!

I am a believer that we should do what we love! We do love hockey.

I hope your days are filled with sunshine and doing things that bring you joy! πŸ™‚ Kris

Here are a few snaps I took of my glorious latte from yesterday at Bloom!

Mmmm, at this point I’m drooling!

I can barely take the anticipation… A large skinny vanilla latte!

I normally skip the whip, but it is so much prettier so I suffered through it! Lol

It Really Is An Amazing World Out There!

Happy Wednesday!

Last night I completed a wholesale order for a new boutique in Sarasota, Florida called Tortoise & Pearls. I wish I could visit, Sarasota is beautiful and I haven’t been there for years!

20110928-115535.jpg My photos do not capture the beachy blues and greens of the ocean colors.

I also am excited to share that The Happy Sol a new boutique in New London, MN now has a fantastic selection of my jewelry. It is an adorable new boutique with clothing and gifts.

If course I can’t write a post without haring my most recent views from the driver seat!

It Really Is An Amazing World Out There, Isn’t It?

Splendid Glory, Simple Joys

I had the pleasure of creating a custom order with some family treasures… Two brooches and a pair of earrings, wish I had taken a before photo. Here are the afters.

An amazingly beautiful vintage pink brooch upcycled into a new trendy necklace.

My clients name starts with an S and amazingly I discovered that the earrings when stacked, create an S, it is even more fitting that she works in a school with children. Can you see the S, it wraps around the focal gems.

20110925-074410.jpg And the final piece in the set, the matching brooch to the earrings, I created a smaller pendant.

The photo above is a photo of a trio of bridesmaid necklaces that I had the honor of creating for a special bride & groom. I realized on the way to deliver them that I forgot to photograph the finished necklaces, 5 in total. So I used one of my favorite canvases of late, the beautiful sky. I love the sun shining through the crystals.

20110925-075329.jpg As I walk out of the roller rink after dropping our daughter off at a birthday party, I see our 13 year old son Keegan, poised on the top of our vehicle begging my husband to drive forward, “I have always wanted to ride up here!” He begged. I convinced Tom to drive forward a few feet (it didn’t take much convincing) and the result was a huge grin from the inside out! Such simple joys.

20110925-075951.jpg And finally, a photo filled with amazing color of the beautiful fall day in Minnesota. Such splendid glory! I hope your day is filled with splendid beauty and simple joys!

I’m A Bit Obsessed: It’s Not With Making Earrings

It seems like I have a tendency to become a bit obsessed…

And it isn’t an obsession with making earrings like it might appear in this post… I

Recently my obsession includes taking photos of the beautiful world around me as I travel… I am not sure why, but it appears even more incredible in the photos. Could it be that at that particular moment my focus may be on more specific details in my immediate moment rather than focusing on the entire frame of vision.

<br 20110923-033805.jpg

Isn’t that a gorgeous morning, full of amazing colors?

20110922-082055.jpg I recently shipped a partial order of earrings to What Not, the whimsical adorable store in Park Rapids… So amidst the beauty of recent wanderings, you will see scattered photos of earrings.

Waves of grain… Or stocks of corn… Amazing colors.

20110923-040642.jpg It’s clear that I need to take a step back and admire the beauty of my life frame by frame…

More journeys ahead! Have an amazing day! Kris

Dynamic Duo – DIY Dish

When you meet the Dynamic Duo, Kim & Kris of The DIY Dish, a weekly Craft & Sewing Webshow, you have to do a double take! I had the honor to get to know them a little as they shopped in my booth at The Creative Connection.

I can tell you they are as much fun in person as they are on camera! They were a hoot trying on my jewelry before they taped 3 episodes at TCC.
Kris bought one of my favorite necklaces created with a vintage glass door knob with a wired nest and vintage element! What a blast to get to know them! They are kind, funny and full of giggles! You can check out their website here.

(PLEASE NOTE: The image above is from the DIY Dish website… www.thediydish.com, photo credit to Brooke Snow)

20110921-091700.jpgΒ As I unwind a little from TCC and I move onto a couple of wholesale orders and an order for a crown, I am filled with gratitude for this journey. I could not have asked for more from a weekend… I do have more to share with you, but it will come in time as I work to balance my commitments. I leave you with some photos of my drive to work today… Who knew cloudy skies could be so beautiful!

20110921-102430.jpg May your cloudy skies bring beauty to your life.
