Grandpa’s Keys Necklace

I am so excited to finally share this necklace with you today! I delivered it yesterday to Melissa and she was so patient with me while I searched for the right clasps and elements to incorporate into this unique and very personal necklace.

This necklace is unique in the very special memories it holds for Melissa of her Grandfather’s vintage keys, but also in that we created a very special family keepsake. In addition to that, I wanted her to be able to wear it in more than one way.

At the end of the chain, I added the jump rings spaced evenly within the chain. Each of the seven keys or charms can be their own pendant when worn separately on a single chain. Each pendant also has its own clasp to attach the pendant to the chain.

The necklace hangs in a different style depending on the spot that Melissa clasps it. The first photo shows the clasp attached to the last jump ring on the chain. The second photo shows the clasp attached to the third jumpring on the chain. See how it provides versatile looks?

On top of that, Melissa can customize the necklace with any charm. She could wear her two daughter’s charms for a light summer look with a Tshirt, or wear the entire set as a funk and funky design with a jean jacket or sweater.

I did some extra customizing on one of her Grandpa’s keys by hand stamping “to my heart” on the key, creating a “key to my heart” pendant. This really pulls the necklace together signifying her love for her family.

A few close ups of the details…

You can see the final photos on my dress form.

I also created some key earrings for Melissa… They are even cuter on her as they dangle perfectly for her hair length!

We had a few extra keys and so I created just a few more pendants.

I know you will understand when I tell you how much fun this was to deliver!

Thanks Melissa! It was a joy to create for you!!

Happy Spring everyone! Hopefully it will soon feel like spring! πŸ™‚ Kris

Sharing Joy

Sometimes I believe we need to create our own joy and I have to say it sure can be fun!

I found the coolest mica cuttings in Tucson and I was creating with some resin projects the other day and decided to play! This is the first one I made into a necklace and I am happy with the result.

I created about six inspirational message pendants with vintage book paper. I am a glitter girl, so I had to add a little sparkle. The only thing I would change would be to protect the ink a little better on the vintage paper. But overall, I am happy with the results.

Well, my spring fever has been put on the back burner with freezing rain causing a late start for school this morning. My kids slept the entire two hours, it amazed me! What a joyful start to the day!

I hope you are having a fun and joy filled day today!

Lovin’ Grungy Crystals

Lovin’ Crystals…

Here is another necklace I created with the amazing soldered crystals from my Atlanta loot.

I wired this crystal with the intention of layering it.

Super happy with the results…

I love the added grunginess of the soldered crystals.

Today is the first day in quite some time that we have almost free… Hangin’ in PJ’s with my family.

Hope your day is FUNtastic!

Blinging It Up!

My photos are not terrific here, but I wanted to show you the two necklaces that I customized for my friend Hilary…

Hilary found this gorgeous Lisa Peters flower that really looked cool with the vintage candle holder… We had a fun time chatting while I combined the two and it turned out so cute! Very apropos for Hilary… She has an amazing sense of color and design! She designs with fiber and fabric and has amazing repertoire of knowledge of many mediums!

The photos were taken on the table at the coffee shop… Not my normal background or lighting.

This next necklace we had a lot of fun adding an escutcheon, a gold filigree backing and blinging it up with a buncha more crystals to make a statement! So fitting for her dynamic personality!

Not sure if you will be able to see the incredible patina on the escutcheon… But it is so beautiful. In fact, it shines like her spirit! Hilary and I will be traveling to the Bead and Button show in June! We are going to have so much fun!

Well, back to work! Somehow my todo list grew! Better go tackle it!

I hope you are having a joyful weekend!

A Glimpse: Demdaco-Jewelry By Kris Lanae

I am so excited to share a few photos of my line with Demdaco/Silvestri.

The jewelry portion of the line released in Cycle 4, 2011 and the big debut of the line starts next week in Atlanta. I am starting to feel like a little girl waiting for Christmas! The line has not shipped yet but should be shipping soon.

The coastal side of the line developed when I was asked if I have ever worked with sea shells in jewelry. I had not and it was a fun new challenge to play and create with on of natures most beautiful creations.

I think you will see my work in a new light.

There is a fun selection of earrings…

A variety of bracelets…

And rings…

I am so excited to share more with you tomorrow, but I thought it would be fun for you to see a glimpse today!

Have a fabulous day!
