Art Biz Jam Retreat: Heading Home

Yesterday was a rainy and stormy day… It was a day of creating, brainstorming and networking. We learned so much about art licensing, from the presenters and each other.

The atmosphere was perfect, the instructors were incredibly generous with their time and content.

The evening before, the moon was shining so brightly there were shadows. The waves were crashing consistently and peacefully.

We all got temporary artist tattoos celebrating a special trait found in each of us. Mine was warmth… I love my friend Lori Siebert’s flower matching my style!

More tomorrow! My flight is boarding! Looking forward to hugs from my family.

FUNtastic Times in Atlanta!

Americas Mart in Atlanta is a whirlwind. A dynamic, sensational hotbed of activity, business, networking and fun.

The escalator at Peachtree station is one of the longest escalators I have been on. Sorry for the blurry photo.

After some shopping, we hit the showrooms. Here we are at the Creative Co-op Showroom. It was Ellen’s first trip to AmericaMart!

My friend Mary has been to Atlanta & Dallas with me!

20130716-110940.jpg we have so many laughs and giggles.

It was so much fun connecting with FUNtastic Artist friends over drinks…

I am trying to catch up after my whirlwind week!

Have an amazing day!

Tours and Treasures

We got up bright and early to get Sawyer on his way for his boys choir tour up through Quebec & Montreal! They are going to have so much fun! For 12 days, I’ll be stalking the boys choir twitter feed for updates and at night reading their daily events via their blog.

It is incredible that the first week of school vacation has passed!

May you have a fantastic weekend & I hope the sun shines upon you!!

Dream Big

After months of pleading by Keegan, hesitation by Moi (a somewhat fearful & protective mother), and reassurance from Dad, I caved. After only two practices, Keegan had his first two lacrosse games today. It is quite a physical sport, and yes there were numerous gasps coming from the spectators in our area… Well yes, I guess it was only me! Ha! He had a blast though!

I got a fun buy on some stamped spoons last weekend and I enjoyed creating with them the past few days. My favorite is the Dream Big! I might just have to keep that one for myself. I believe we should all Dream Big!!! Go for it!!

Today we have Kya’s first softball game and then Sawyer’s final boys choir concert of the year, the On Tour concert. Next week he is off on his 12 day tour to Canada. It is going to be a crazy few weeks!

I hope you are having an incredible weekend.

Sneak Peek

I really need to get motivated to sort through the awesome treasures I bought at my Grandparents estate sale… I starting to get my energy back after the fun filled weekend.

This necklace is pictured on a old book given to my Grandma’s namesake four years before she was born and one hundred years ago. It is kind of crazy really. I treasure books like this that have a link to the past and I regret not listening more carefully and documenting my Grandparents stories. Super thankful to have it though!

Here is the sneak peek I promised. I was playing around yesterday with a custom order. I am not done yet, but I thought I would show you a sneak peek!

Hope you have a fantabulous day!

Today is a day to regroup! The weekend was amazing. However I admit, I am feeling a little wiped out. I have been working on a few new ideas today and staying low key.

I am amazed that there are only a few more days of school left for my kids!!

Have a FUNtastic Tuesday!

Grandpa’s Keys Necklace

I am so excited to finally share this necklace with you today! I delivered it yesterday to Melissa and she was so patient with me while I searched for the right clasps and elements to incorporate into this unique and very personal necklace.

This necklace is unique in the very special memories it holds for Melissa of her Grandfather’s vintage keys, but also in that we created a very special family keepsake. In addition to that, I wanted her to be able to wear it in more than one way.

At the end of the chain, I added the jump rings spaced evenly within the chain. Each of the seven keys or charms can be their own pendant when worn separately on a single chain. Each pendant also has its own clasp to attach the pendant to the chain.

The necklace hangs in a different style depending on the spot that Melissa clasps it. The first photo shows the clasp attached to the last jump ring on the chain. The second photo shows the clasp attached to the third jumpring on the chain. See how it provides versatile looks?

On top of that, Melissa can customize the necklace with any charm. She could wear her two daughter’s charms for a light summer look with a Tshirt, or wear the entire set as a funk and funky design with a jean jacket or sweater.

I did some extra customizing on one of her Grandpa’s keys by hand stamping “to my heart” on the key, creating a “key to my heart” pendant. This really pulls the necklace together signifying her love for her family.

A few close ups of the details…

You can see the final photos on my dress form.

I also created some key earrings for Melissa… They are even cuter on her as they dangle perfectly for her hair length!

We had a few extra keys and so I created just a few more pendants.

I know you will understand when I tell you how much fun this was to deliver!

Thanks Melissa! It was a joy to create for you!!

Happy Spring everyone! Hopefully it will soon feel like spring! πŸ™‚ Kris

Warning Birthday Month Approaching

Celebrating the approach of my birthday month (a tradition I learned from my friend Cindy… why celebrate for one day, that which you can celebrate for a month!), we are off to a flea market that I haven’t been to in years to start the celebration…

It is like unwrapping a present because we have no idea of the gifts that we will find.

The sunrise this morning is gorgeous…

I hope you have a happy day!

Creative Co-op by Kris Lanae: Dallas

My mind is racing and I have a zillion ideas swirling around in my mind. My eyes opened at 4 am and my excitement and creative energy will not allow me to go back to sleep.

I decide to embrace the moment. Let’s put this creative energy to use!!! I can sleep later! Besides, I got 8 hours of sleep Thursday night which brings my average to five and a half hours, I can survive on that.

My jewelry line looks amazing! My photos are not the best, but I wanted to share some with you… Please forgive the quality!

The embellished jewelry line has an entire line dedicated to it.

This mannequin angel is perched at the entrance…

As you walk into the room, your eyes are drawn to the center table with a focal mirror, dress forms and one of my jewelry displays that I got to design.

The rack is a two tiered display of some old vintage bicycle tires I found… It looks awesome and is a terrific bracelet/necklace display.

The room has gorgeous patina’d grey panels that showcase each grouping of jewelry. Because it is a wholesale company, most of the jewelry is sold in collections of two to three.

I wish you could be here to see the beauty and simplicity of the display boards.

And here is another angel for you, my Yes You Can! Angel… I will get better photos from the catalog when I get home.

I had fun creating in my room last night and this morning. I depart today.

Have an amazing day! πŸ™‚ Kris

Bead & Button & Celebrate Creatives

So happy the sun is shining on this glorious day! I am sorry I have been absent for a few days! I am excited to ship off 30 designs and about 10 elements to Creative Co-op today for my new line!

I have so much to share from the Bead & Button show…

I had a special bead on my list, requested by a friend for another friend… I knew I would find exactly what I needed at Lisa Peters booth. Thinking with hope today for our courageous friend!

Here is my small collection of purchases from Lisa Peters… I love her work! It was hard to not scoop up about 20 gorgeous focals from her. I really have to keep my focus on my new line for Creative Co-op.

I found these gorgeous buttons…
A rainbow of crystals…

Hilary and I had dinner Thursday night with my friend Linda Barutha of Live, Laugh, Love Retreats. The three of us had so much fun! I will be teaching at Linda’s retreat next April.

I wanted to take a moment to highlight The retreat & this month’s Instructor Spotlight:

The Creatives — Celebrating Sisterhood Retreat planning and prepping is in full swing. So every month we will be highlighting the awesome instructors that will be teaching at the retreat next April.

This month’s Instructor Spotlight is on Mary Sterk. Mary’s business, Just Mary Designs, features a program called Body Fab-YOU-lous. Through art, Mary teaches us to love ourselves just as we are. To learn more, follow this link to Mary’s post.

I love Mary’s philosophy! I know this is an issue I have struggled with my entire life.

Back to the B & B Show… Friday night we had dinner with four amazing women. I am hoping to get a copy of the photo and share more about it in a separate post… We actually closed the restaurant down! We had so much fun visiting!

Saturday we left and I learned a lesson about Karma… As we were checking in we had a gate agent who was smiling and pleasant. Hilary and I had been giggling the entire weekend… Cracking jokes and having fun… So I jokingly asked the gate agent if she could red flag Hilary for a strip search… We all laughed about it and continued on our way. However Karma met me at Security… It was one of the newer X-ray machines where you stand still and hold your hands above your head…

My jeans had a bunch of metal decoration on them and I failed the security check… So Hilary guarded my belongings and we both had hysterical giggling fits while the poor security agent had to do the pat down on me. I will spare you the gory details but it was a classic lesson for me to be cautious what I joke about! Sorry Hilary, I promise to be a good girl next time!

Not sure what I will do with these yet, but I had to have them!

My friend Heidi and her beautiful daughter from Mermaid’s Dowry…

All in all, it was an amazing show with fantastic company… I met so many new friends, I can’t wait until next year!

Know That I Adore You!!

Another weekend slipped by so quickly. It amazes me how fast that time trickles away.

It was a weekend filled with glory… And pride…

Glory and pride for my beautiful niece Bailey on her High school graduation, with honors and scholarships!!

And i am filled with pride for Sawyer for singing his solo last night at the Boys Choir On Tour concert… With so much courage. It was an incredible concert… One of my favorite concerts.

It will be a whirlwind week. Tomorrow I am off to the Minneapolis Gift Show to meet the Creative Co-op Reps… And Thursday I am off with my friend Hilary to the Bead and Button Show… To stock up on supplies and to connect with other jewelry designers.

I have to apologize for the next few weeks, I may not be blogging as much as I normally would… I am incredibly excited to be creating my next line with Creative Co-op… This time I have more than 11 days, I have exactly a month… But I am over the moon to have many more products to develop… Yahoooo!

I wish I could show you a few of them!! I am wearing two of my new products that are in development right now! Don’tcha want to meet me for a Latte so you can peek?

So know that I adore you. I will try to stay in touch, even if it is brief!

A Recap & Where Did The Time Go?

I want to thank each of you who were able to join me in my private sale… It was so amazing! (and if you missed it, you can try today for some of your favorites… Just give me a list of alternate choices. πŸ™‚ )

It was so much fun to connect with all of you… You are incredible and I am so blessed to have friends like you!

I wish you could have experienced this side of it with me… There is something incredibly joyful to be honored so much that people want to wear your jewelry. As the minutes passed and I continued to get emails, I was in total shock that I was not getting requests for duplicates! I could not stop shaking my head in amazement! It did eventually start to happen, but it was crazy how everyone liked something different.

I was feeling a little frantic as the emails started coming because I wanted to try to reply right away… I think Putter decided that I needed to take a deep breath and relax so he plopped down on my sale sheets and tried to take a nap.

He then decided to climb onto my pile of envelopes that I had numbered… I am not sure what his message was there…

20120602-055416.jpg But he sure was helpful. πŸ™‚

There were a couple of glitches! I got an F for numbering! I actually doubled up on a number… But thankfully I requested the number and description.

And my heart sank to my toes a few hours in when I realized I had a large number of junk emails. When I clicked on it, there were two people who requested to be a part of the sale but I never saw their request. It made me feel sick and I am so sorry for that! I sent an email right away… But I just thought of an idea on how to hopefully make it a little better, so if you are one of those two people, you will me getting an email from me today, and I am so sorry.

Over all it was a successful day and I will do it again.

Yesterday was the last day of school… So happy for my kids! Keegan is now a Freshman, I cannot believe I have a high schooler and a 6th & 7th grader! Where did that time go?

It is now six bells on Saturday morning and time to get crackin’… I have jewelry to make!

I hope you have an incredible Saturday.

I just thought i would let you know… There is still time to join the sale! All I need is an email from you sent to and I will be happy to include you!

20120530-165533.jpg here is what I will be playing with tonight! No rushing to and fro tonight! Yippeeeee skippeeeee!

20120530-165759.jpg I wanted to share Sawyer’s latest art… In his word, he. “only got a B+ on it.” so he was disappointed… But I love it! A well balanced meal! Lol. Pizza, French fries, Mac & cheese in a bow and an orange! πŸ™‚ my kind of food! In my eyes he got an A+! πŸ™‚ guess that’s why I’m not his teacher!

Hope you are enjoying your Wednesday on this short week! πŸ™‚ Kris

Vintage Sparkle Hand Wired Necklace

Happy Tuesday! It is the last Tuesday of the school year!

The necklace above is one of my new favorites… The vintage sparkle of this old brooch is incredible…

We had a very low key weekend… Quiet moments on the front stoop…

I worked 95 percent of the weekend…

My family had death by chocolate waffles…

Poor Putter, he sat perfectly still and modeled his American Girl sunglasses… He sure is confident in his cat-ness, as I often tell him how pretty HE is…

Chick-a-doodle created this necklace yesterday while I was working. My only contribution was to tuck the ends of the wire. I was quite impressed!

Thank you so much for your response to my private sale coming up on Friday… I promise you won’t regret signing up! πŸ™‚ if you missed the info, just email me at

Hope your day is amazing! πŸ™‚ Kris
