Sawyer & the SJBC singing Shadowland from the Lion King

I am excited to share with you the video of my son Sawyer, age 12 singing a solo in Shadowland, from the Lion King with the St. John’s Boys Choir.

This is a photo of Sawyer this summer, he was helping with my photo shoot.

My Mom video’d Sawyer during the concert on Friday night. (Thanks Mom!!) Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqbiW0Bhmkk

This is Sawyer’s 4th year with the St. John’s Boys Choir, an amazing organization. More about the SJBC:

The St. John’s Boys’ Choir offers an enriching experience in
music education with an emphasis in vocal music, as well as the socializing experiences of shared enterprise, fellowship, cultural awareness, and touring for boys ages 8-15. The choir promotes vocal music education in Central Minnesota and offers the unique experience of a well-trained boys’ choir to its
audiences.

So far, Sawyer has traveled with the choir to Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado and Winnepeg, Manitoba. He is excited about his future travels. You can find out more about the boys choir here.

For local kids who may be interested in singing, sign up for KidSing. The 4th Annual Central Minnesota KidSing
Festival is drawing near and registration is now open to any boy or girl in Grades 3, 4, 5 or 6 in the area. Join more than 200 other children from local schools and home schools in a day full of music-making and fun activities co-hosted by SJBC and the Cantabile Girls’ Choir, closing with a concert in

  5. I was in a traveling choir at his age (Carillon Choristers). It’s such a wonderful experience to sing and be on stage. And what an honor for Sawyer to have a solo! He did a great job!

  6. Hilary, How fun! I bet you have great memories! Sawyer has loved the boys choir… Meeting other kids that like to sing like he does has been very rewarding! The improvement in his voice and the theory knowledge that he has learned has been amazing too! A great experience all around! Thanks for sharing Hilary! 🙂 So cool!
