A few quick photos today… The necklace above one of my fav’s… Funky vintage hinge pictured on a box from my Grandparent’s estate.

And I an not sure what this was, but it is going to be a part of my new jewelry display… I remember seeing it in my Grandparents attic. I quickly laid some necklaces on it.

I am going to have to be a little more deliberate with their placement.

The Birds are SINGING!!

I can hear the birds singing! And the sun is shining! It is a fabulous Minnesota day!

The bird in the necklace above is created with repurposed metal from a file cabinet… Love them!

We are working on getting our family prepared for the week ahead. We have Keegan’s pre-op appointment on Wednesday and surgery on Thursday. Seeing your kids go through a journey like this is one of my hardest parental jobs… We know we are in good hands. We know we will get through this and thankfully he has a very high tolerance for pain.

I can’t recall if I shared that they will be operating on both ankles to remove the pins that they could not get to last year and they are removing the metal plate by his knee. So forgive me if I am absent, but I will try to keep you up to date.

The Bead soup reveal is on Saturday, so I will have that prepared to post in advance.

I am excited to announce that I will be a vendor at The Olde Depot JUNKtion in Brainerd, Mn. It is a fabulous new event and I am so excited about participating! You can find info here.

Rusty Delight: Amazing Gifts

The other day I received an amazing gift.

The gift arrived to me, and I was so excited to open the box…

In Tucson, my friend Patti, Liz, Linda, Katie and I enjoyed dinner with Liz’s father and fun-loving wife. Liz encouraged me to show her father some of my funky creations with unusual elements like water faucet handles and vintage hinges.

As Liz expected, her sweet father was very intrigued… He started telling us about some trunks that he rescued the hardware from over 50 years ago. He stored them and moved them for over 50 years across many states… He was excited to dig them out and share them with me!!! Can you imagine my delight when the box showed up in my mailbox?

This rusty delight was such a beautiful gift to me…. for one thing, this gentleman cared enough to keep them with him for so long and the immense honor I feel that he would share them with me after all of this time. I am so excited to work these items into some unique jewelry and decor! I am very touched by his gift and sweet Liz for sending them to me… Thank you!!

Flying By…

Wow, the time is flying by… I must admit, this week must have been on fast forward.

Time seems to pass much more quickly when we are busy! This week was jam packed.

Last night we enjoyed the 6th & 7th grade school band & choir concerts. As Sawyer was waiting in the hall, he was asked by the Athletic Director to sing the National Anthem for the Varsity Basketball game. It worked out perfectly between concerts.

Today the girls have their fourth game of district playoffs. They are playing for second seed for Regional Playoffs and must win tonight and Sunday to advance. Saturday is their home volleyball tournament so it should be a fun weekend ahead.

I bought this big chunky bird charm at the Tucson Gem Show. I hand stamped the word fly on it and wired it up. I love the chunkiness of the bird.

We cannot reveal the soup we sent until they receive and reveal it, but we are encouraged to tease you a little!

And the Games Continue

With valiant effort the girls were tied two ~ two in the third period. Two minutes before the end of the game our team gets a crippling penalty. With one minute remaining in the game, Kya finds herself one on two and is forced to make choice… She committed and was burned by the other player with a game ending score on us. The game ends 2-3 and we find our path on the lower bracket battling for second seed to Regional playoffs.

The girls should be proud for how they played. I believe they played this team 5 times this season and lost each game. The scores continued to get closer and they thought they had them this time.

Life is challenging that way. We are on our way to resume the battle, our third game of the weekend and three more games to win to move on to regionals! One more loss and our season is over.

Frosty Days

Some of my favorite Minnesota moments include frosty snow covered mornings.

The beauty is astounding!

This is a necklace I made myself with my Grandparents skeleton keys and some other vintage love I adore. This is one that will remain in my collection!

We are on our way to game two of district playoffs. Last night the girls won 5-0 in an incredibly exciting game. Little Miss Chickadoodle scored the second goal of the game. Today is a formidable opponent, they have not lost a district game all season. We are hoping the underdogs shine today!

Cheers to a better day!

Yesterday was the last day of Thanksgiving Vacation for our kids… It was a laid back day, a little hockey, a little play practice, chores, homework… Pretty low key. I enjoyed creating and Tom worked on his continuing education.

A couple bumps in my day turned into great lessons!
Always shut your curling iron off if you walk away… My brand new bottle of moisturizer knocked onto my curling iron, by the time I came back to it, it had melted and puddled all over the counter. {a fire hazard for certain}

I was able to save about half the bottle and my curling iron! Lol

Last night after 10pm I was getting sleepy… My eyes were dry so in the dark I got up and got my drops out of my purse… I quietly laid back in bed and put the first soothing drop in, and to my shock and surprise, it burned like crazy! I quickly rinsed my eye and upon closer inspection…

I mistakenly grabbed a bottle of eyeglass lens cleaner! Wowzers, that woke me up! The good news is that eyeball should be squeaky clean!

Other than the bright green bottle color, they look almost identical. I forgot I had the cleaner in my purse! Lesson #2, Always, Always, Always read the bottle!

Dangling Key Earrings

I made this pair of earrings this morning for an upcoming hop…

I am quite amazed that I slept until 8 am this morning. I cannot remember the last time I slept in. Even when i can sleep in, I wake up between 5:30 & 6… Feels so good! The boys got an amazing amount of sleep too. Sawyer crashed at 6pm last night and got 14 hours of sleep! And Keegan got more than 11! It is nice to have everyone rested!

We are off and running again! More earrings coming soon!

Feeling Blessed

Gosh… One of the greatest compliments of a jewelry designer is that people want to wear your jewelry. I must say that I feel so blessed by your compliments! Thank you to all who participated in my sale yesterday! It was so much fun! You make my heart sing!!!

A few have asked if my sale will be continuing throughout the weekend! Absolutely! If you did not get a chance to shop, feel free to shop away. You might want to send a few extra alternate choices, but I continued to be amazed most of the day how few duplicates there were!

I will be running today, most of the day, so it will take me until later in the day to respond.

It’s pretty rare that I make myself a necklace… I tend to wear the same couple of designs for months, switching it up occasionally, kind of odd for a jewelry junkie.

I have been collecting random elements that I have wanted to make into a necklace and last weekend I finally created a new layering necklace for myself. Nothing fancy.

This morning we woke to a beautiful snowfall… My kids are so excited, I have to nudge them to keep moving… They just want to watch the snow fall.

Teen-Tween-Teen

Can I just say, I love MEA weekend! We had such a great time! Unfortunately it is time to pack up and move on with our day. I have a show to go to, and Sawyer has an audition tonight.
